Far too often people don't realize what they have until it's gone.
[–]JODY_HiGHROLLER 38 points39 points40 points 9 years ago (51 children) | Copy Link
Yea I am going through this now, I admit it was all my fault and don't blame her. Well we are talking and I've basically got another chance but she told me she slept with 3 people while we broke up for those 2 months. And now my thoughts in a whirlpool. Can't stop thinking about her being with others since we have been together for 6 years.
Really really think you want to move on before you do it.
[–]darkoptical 92 points93 points94 points 9 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link
3 people I would nope right out of that. She already had those pony's saddled and ready to ride.

Mate a semi attractive girl has no problem finding sex on any given night. They may have easily been one night stands.
[–][deleted] 53 points54 points55 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They may have all been one single one night stand... just sayin'
[–]PomegranatePuppy 21 points22 points23 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hell on a lucky night she may even get to take home all three at once for a one night stand to remember.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Both are bad when you think about it. 2 months and she bangs 3 rando's? Do you really want that?
Or two months and she banged 3 of the ??? dudes she had been setting up as backup?
[–]thealienelite 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
This is nuts. I've banged three different women in a week before. Three in two months is a ridiculously low number for most men with decent game. So I'm not about to crucify this girl.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't either, but OP isn't that guy. So for him, it's bad.
Some guys don't care. Some guys only wanna be with a virgin. We're all different. This girl has made herself something OP can't deal with, so rather punish himself by settling, he needs to find a girl that suits his desire.
[–]thealienelite 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well, i dont think he should "settle", but I also think our culture's view of sexuality, womens' in particular is pretty skewed.
Tbh I think a woman juggling cocks can be kind of hot, but I also dont attach my ego to another person's sexuality.
The thought of another person banging our girl isnt the horrible thing people make it out to be... to me it just seems like an insecurity issue.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Perhaps, and yeah I agree with you regarding society. Except my personal views aren't exact. (Human's right?)
My personal view is that slutty women are fucking awesome. If 90% of women went out their and took on 3 cocks at a time every time, I'd be okay with that. I encourage slutty women.
However, I wouldn't settle with one of them. I would take my time and find a girl with a low notch count.
No judgment. No hate. Just my preference is all. Like big tits. I like that too.
[–]thealienelite 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah i can definitely see that. Besides, theres a very real possibility that once a person experiences variety they wont wanna go back (and i wouldnt really blame them). Thats where trust and honest communication come into play.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
And what is the likelihood that it was only "3" dudes she hooked up with? I'm sure there's some equation for what the number really is, women generally aren't honest about their previous partners, men exaggerate and women undercut the numbers.
[–]Dieselpoweredsybian 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Take any number a woman says and add 5. Take any number a man says and subtract 3.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds about right. I remember my ex-gf asking how many women I'd been with. Think I said something like ten, to which she scoffed and claimed something like four. Less than a year later, after we broke up, she's pregnant and claiming it's mine. Came to find out from her friends that she slept with a significant number of men from her apartment complex. She confessed after leading me on for months when I made it clear I'd be getting a DNA test.
It's funny; thinking back, she gave at least one major clue that I didn't think about, when she talked about the landlord complaining of a women knocking on men's doors late at night looking for a hookup. I know I felt a little suspicious because it was weird for her to suddenly bring up. I don't for a fact if it was her, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I guess the moral of the story is to pay attention when they say something that could actually be a confession in disguise. It could be a warning.
[+]Trivial-Savoir-Faire -11 points-10 points-9 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
So that makes it okay? (I mean if they both have been sure... have at it but if it's just one person, it clearly shows the one having sex with strangers has already moved on. So it'a entering cuckold territory)
[–]PomegranatePuppy 23 points24 points25 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
They had broken up so yes her having sex with whoever she wanted to is OK. He's just insecure and that's fair but judging her is just an ego issue.
[–]Soultrane9 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
just an ego issue.
Nah, it's instinct. If you don't need to vomit when you think about the fact that your GF of 6 years got pounded by others means there is something wrong with your brain.
Now not moving on from it IS an ego issue I agree.
[–]PomegranatePuppy 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea that's what I ment. English may be my first language but I have yet to fully grasp conveying my thoughts in the written word.
[–]JODY_HiGHROLLER 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
OP here. Yea you're exactly right. I just feel insecure now. Mostly just dumb thought going through my head. We broke up, it was my dumb fault. So she had every right to do what she wanted, and so did I. I mean I tried moving on and hooked up with a girl as well but I didn't have a good feeling when doing it. Like the whole time doing it just didn't feel right to me. So when I realized I missed my ex, I texted her and found out she had slept with 3 others. When I asked if she had the same feeling I had. She said she did it to get over me and it was fun and just fucking. I guess it hurts knowing that she enjoyed her experience and I didn't mine. So now I just feel in the dumps and hope I can get over it because I do want to be with her but I just don't know if I can ever get it out of my head that she might have had someone better than me, when I never had to worry about that before since we were each other's first everything.
First off if she did have someone better try to be challenged by that not jealous. I know it's hard to do, my present bf and I went through something similar where we both slept with other people. He slept with his ex(by accident, long story), I slept with a friend I had been casually dating. I had a blast with my friend I loved the sex my bf at the time was good by not as experienced. That said the way my bf takes care and time to learn and listen to me and what I want two years later he is definitely in the top of my list of sexual partners (and I'm no nun lost count years ago). He got super jealous after finding out that I was daring someone else (we were not exclusive) started going through my phone and email. Don't do that it's silly if she wanted to be with someone else she would, being her first is a massive bond and Imo it is a good thing she and you got to explore out side of your partnership. Now there arnt questions, but if you ever want to explore again I 100% recommend 4 some. You may want to check out the book ethical slut.
[+]Trivial-Savoir-Faire -19 points-18 points-17 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
He's just insecure
What? The guy is in a different relationship. You do realise him getting back with her is called cheating. Unless you're okay with that.
judging her
it's not about judging its about actions demonstrating whether a person male or female in the relationship has moved on.
I personally however would judge her, that's disgusting. If I wanted a slut I'd go pay for one that met my physical tastes etc, you know, getting a product that is measured according to preference
[–]PomegranatePuppy 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You may have missed the msg I was talking about, we are no discussing the article we are discussing a comment above mine. Where the guy is not in a relationship but whos ex girlfriend well they were broken up slept with 3 people over two months but is willing to consider dating him again. He is the reason for the break up (his opinion) and wants to be with her but is judging her over the fact that she had sex with people well they were not dating. Hope that clears up your confusion.

This kind of remark makes me sad, I have no trouble being inside someone less than 24 hours after a breakup and I'm not constantly stringing people along. It's a pretty great coping method really, and I'm a guy. I'm sure it's much less difficult for a woman who is similarly inclined.
Some fuck scared, some suck sad.
Best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.
[–]fuckwpshit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Eh, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. If she really was like that she simply need not to have told him. The fact she did suggests she's honest. Sounds like it may have been rebound, or maybe there were lots of guys hitting on her.

I wouldn't be so fast to say that. This summer my GF and I broke up and I slept with 6 girls in 2 months, and had only ever been in contact with 1 of them before
[–]MrBoo88 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What did you think was gonna happen after breaking up from 6 years? It sounds like you was the one that hurt her and she was trying to fuck the pain away.
Both of you get STD tests then get back together and try it again! You're both adults with needs. Learn to deal with it. Sex is no big deal (if your not cheating) and it's what humans do. If it does not work out then break up mutually. Life is short and find someone that you want to share it with.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Move on. The relationship ended for a reason. 2 months isn't enough time for people to change (yourself too)
She slept with 3 guys? Chances are it's 9, not even including whoever she banged before ya'll got together, and maybe even during (if she cheated). Not even talking shit, I have no issues with women getting theirs. But you do. So clearly you take issue so why are you getting back with her?
I wouldn't get back with a woman who I didn't feel right being with. Don't let society brainwash you into thinking you have to be unhappy and settle for someone just cause you're a man.
Take time away from her. Get over her and move on. Then find a woman who is right for you. You'll be happier, trust me.

She was doing what she was in every right to do, especially given 6 years. Just because you didn't doesn't mean that is a crazy amount. If it was a guy friend who broke up with his girlfriend of 6 years and he had 3 one night stands then got back with his ex would you expect the relationship was doomed. Personally the fact that she is willing to give your relationship another shot shows that they didn't mean anything beyond a fun evening. Not everyone deals with breakups by hiding under a rock.

In 2 months already sleeping with people after a 6 year relationship. Nah, she already had other people in mind. Sorry.
So what if she did? Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean other people stop being sexually attractive. There's at least three people i know that i could spend the night with right now if I wanted...it's even easier for females to get laid.
Also, he said he messed it up, so idk why you'd throw her under the bus for exploring options. At least she was honest about it.

There was a great long term (20+ years) study released this year which focused on couples who arrived at divorce. The number one factor in determining divorce: husbands employment status. And once again, we see it here. Girls upset that she's got a hubby with low prospects, but doesn't realize that a mans worth increases as he ages and a woman's value decreases. I don't meant to be rude over it, but I really think that's the truth.

I was in my first junior role at a women's magazine
Sigh. Why? Why does this always happen?
But as time went on, and my magazine career - and salary - advanced, I started to resent Matthew as he drifted from one dead-end job to another.
In other words, you were in the traditionally male role of primary breadwinner and resented that. Welcome to male priviledge, enjoy.
I stopped seeing Matthew as my equal.
Frankly I doubt his intelligence if he put up with you for so long.
Instead, I saw someone who was holding me back.
Oh the surprise. Again, welcome to the traditional male gender role. Are we enjoying ourselves yet?
I encouraged him to find a career and was thrilled when he was accepted to join the police in 1995. It should have heralded a new chapter in our lives, but it only hastened the end.
In other words, you badgered him to change in order to suit your wants because you were a selfish drama queen, which backfired catastrophically because you refused to consider the consequences of your actions.
We spent hours talking and crying as he tried to convince me to stay, but I was adamant.
So you are entirely to blame for your misfortune if I understand this correctly.
But, I refused to listen, convinced there would be another, better Mr Right waiting around the corner.
You fully believed in the feminist version of the Nirvana Fallacy. Enjoy your prize.
But though I'd dumped him, I never felt the women he met were good enough. I can see now I was acting out of jealousy. I clearly wanted to keep him for myself.
Even though you dumped and hurt him in your idiotic quest you still felt a claim to his life in some capacity? Dear lord how entitled can one person possibly be?
Matthew was unusually abrupt and asked me not to call him again.
He grew a spine? Took him long enough.
Matthew and Nicola still live in Essex and, as far as I know, don't yet have children. That's the next milestone I truly dread.
The fact that you actively fear and resent the thought of your ex being happy says a lot about you as a person.
Perhaps he has found what he is looking for and I am a distant memory.
Oh I hope so.
Well, this was an enlightening read. Though it's not really a denied pussypass, to be honest. Despite my pointed commentary she genuinely regrets her mistakes and admits to them, which isn't actually objectionable. Her past version might have been a bitch, but reality seems to have sobered her up.
Edit: Read the article please (helpfully provided by u/Bsimmons4prez in this thread) for context. In case people wonder what the "Nirvana Fallacy" is, it basically means rejecting something real (in this case her fiancee) purely because it isn't as good as a made up idealized version of it (her even-more-perfect Mr. Right) despite the idealized version being unrealistic and likely not existing in real life. It's a close relative of the Perfect Solution Fallacy which argues that any solution that is not utterly perfect shoud be discarded i.e. abolishing the police because they don't stop 100% of all crime.

This is such a selfish way of thinking. She dumped a man who did, I assume, everything he could to make her happy. She dumps him because she is convinced she deserves better because of his job and then she hopes he doesn't achieve happiness as well. How egocentric can somebody be.

but her sorrow isn't for altering his life trajectory, it's for the regret of her own life. She's aware, but still very self-centered.
Well, to be fair, I think she's pretty much given up on turning her life around. She states in the article that she's started to accept she'll never have the husband-and-2.5-children family she's always wanted and wrote this in order to warn other women off the path she took.
Yes, it's still centered mostly on her, but it is meant to adress women in her situation. The lack of change is born out of resignation on her part.

Hm, no. She was a cunt. As in past tense. The article she wrote actually points out her errors, she admits and regrets them. At the very worst she's in recovery.
It's one of the reasons why I don't think this quite fits here. She's aware she made a mistake, paid dearly for it and now advises other women not to make the same mistake she did.
If more women were like that PPD would likely not exist.

Nirvana Fallacy
Kind of like spending $100,000 to win $1,000,000 and losing. Patrice O'Neal called when women do that scratching a lotto ticket.
[–]Ireyon12 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
A bit yes. The reason why it's fallacious isn't because you can lose, it's because the person implies or errenously assumes that the odds of winning are good when in fact they are very bad.
It's also a fallacy that only survives if it doesn't get examined closely. Using your example, every person could reach the conclusion that the chance of winning has to be significantly smaller than 10%, because that's the point were the cost for prizes breaks even (meaning ten people play and their money is used to pay the winner) and the person running the lottery wants to earn money, not lose it.
It's the same with her. She had a man who was already pretty near perfect for her, but she wanted perfection, not near-perfection. What she failed to consider was that her chances to improve on what she already had were extremely small and so betting it all on "I can do better!" was foolish.

She was like... 20 at the time. I'm all for PPD but she made a completely human mistake. And it's not as if she couldn't have found someone; it sees like she just wasn't looking in the right places. I mean, she fell in love with an artist.
This really resonated with me. Thank you.

Grass is greener on the other side because it's fertilized by bullshit
I always say the grass is always greener over a sewer, but I like yours better.

[–]TheDrunkenOwl 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well then you get there and it's not nearly as green. Think that's the point being made.
[–]nxqv 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah but that's implied in the idiom "the grass is always greener on the other side"
[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Am I supposed to feel sorry for her? Nope, not happening.
[–]dustwetsuit 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you read the article she's just advising others to not make the same mistakes she did. "Don't confuse contentment with unhappiness" etc. etc.

[–]SeriousAccount0 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Lol. It's not set yet. I still have to go to the divorce lawyer and get the separation agreement done. This is the third time I've gone to a lawyer before my wife changed her mind about the divorce. It is also the last time. Probably will be finalized some time in March or April.

It's not too late for her to have a child their are many young girls who give up their babies instead of aborting them. Those children can always use a home
[–]fake_tea 53 points54 points55 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
She would probably decide after a few years that the kid is holding her back.

Not if she regrets it

Does this fit this sub? She made a mistake but is now trying to fix it by trying to take the pussy pass away from her fellow pussy-havers. I actually commend her.

if you read the article you'll see that this doesn't really fit the sub. I found her to be very self aware; she knows she fucked up and now she wants other people to be more grateful for what they have. imo this sub was always more for the entitled bitch types; she was super young and made a very human mistake. but thats just my two cents
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
made a very human mistake.
Nope.

It's a mistake women will continue to make for quite awhile. A lot, possibly most, men are ok with having a wife that doesn;t make as much as them. It's been that way for a long while. Women are new to it and society has shaped ideas that the men should be the breadwinner. Studies have even shown how few women feel its ok for the man to make less, even though men have been doing this for centuries. It will take time for younger women to grow up with the idea that them making more than their spouse is normal.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
"Men are OK with having a wife that doesn't make as much as them"
Yes, but we're substantially less OK with an ageing, increasingly less sexy wife.
[–]thewrightstuff88 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She became self aware, AFTER all was said and done. The issue here is not thinking ahead of time, ahead of the decisions she made. Plus she could care less about what other people want, she is still hankering for attention through this article, perhaps in hope of some poor sap who will feel sorry for her and take her out on a date followed by unprotected sex and a "oops i'm pregnant" moment.
[–]bilged 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Where's the pussy pass? This is a very normal scenario that's very likely more often the man doing what the author did early in his career as the resentful primary breadwinner.
[–]InsanityRoach 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How is this even a pussy pass denied?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry to break the circlejerk, but what she thought and did is very human.
Countless men and women (especially in big cities) always think or feel they can do better.
She wasn't happy with her relationship, she gave it time and it didn't succeed. It would have ended anyway.
How many men have dumped their faithful wives who stood by them just to be with a younger, hotter woman?
It sucks, but this is human nature and evolution at work, not r/pussypassdenied material.
Genius of the year 2016 goes to....
