I don't wear pants unless there is inclement weather - I'm talking like, a few feet of snow on the ground. I pretty much just wear dresses and skirts.

I really love eShakti for dresses. You're basically getting a custom made dress, including hemline, neckline, and sleeves. And on top of that ...a lot of them even have an option for pockets!

I know you mentioned in one of the other comments that you live in Canada, and I'm not sure if they ship there, but based on the fact that they just opened up shipping to Australia and Singapore, I would imagine they do.

Phantom wrote about a clothing service a while ago called Stitchfix. And I've been using it since! You tell the stylist about what you like and want and they send you everything from skirts, dresses, purses, jewlery. I keep most of what I get from them but they make returns super easy if needed.

Banana Republic. Now they have some really cute wrap dresses and also some sweater dresses that are ok priced. If you have a Banana Republic Outlet... hit that up!!!! If not then old navy had some. As it is winter here there are a lot of thicker materials going on. You could also try modcloth online or asos. Else I would ask /r/femalefashionadvice where else you could look.

If you're into Disney, my surprising answer is Hot Topic. I got a couple this summer, and I find that I reach for them often. Good quality, held up through several washes, and cute but not "fancy".

Hi! A bit late, but I see you're Canadian (me too!) I'm in Vancouver. I wear dresses often and almost all of mine come from thrift stores (salvation army or Value village) hello silk dresses for under $10! I also quite like Winners which I think is a sister company to Marshall's in the states. Don't be tricked by MSRP but they have a huge variety generally which is great.

I'm a college student, so my tastes may skew a little preppy/ younger, but I'm always on the lookout for good, casual dresses. Brands I've had good luck with-

For better quality, j.crew often has cute dresses ( example 1 , example 2 , example 3 , and example four .) same with brooks brothers ( dress 1, dress 2, sundress this dress tho and banna republic ( skirt , also skirt ) . I search the clearance racks, sales and outlets bc college student, but i would recommend trying on outlet clothes at first if possible (especially j.crew's poly/anything materials. no flow at all)- the materials and fit are hit or miss when compared to the main brands.

For fun beachy dresses i love lilly pulitzer- they are really expensive but their t-shirt type dresses have some fun prints and their more formal ones have really cute detailing ( i mean ) (again, sales. They'll have one in january next. I'm hoping this dress will be included)

If you're American, i really like Kohls- lc lauren conrad's line is one of the cutest I know of, although it is definitely a try-on-in-person situation as the quality of her pieces varies. Her dresses are often really cute and casual, if a bit shorter than i like. Different brands like elle and apt 9 there also have cute dresses sometimes. This is cheaper stuff though!

Online or boutique-ish shops like francescas, bohme, and piper and scoot have good reputations where i live for dresses, but i haven't personally bought from them myself. Plus, you can often find links to clothing sites on pinterests when you find things you like. Just watch out for the Chinese retailers, they take a long time to ship and a lot of people haven't received items as expected at all.

I don't wear pants outside the house unless it's to go to the gym -- my personal preference, with what my body looks like. I have a pretty good sized collection of dresses and skirts that have mostly come from thrift shops. Taking a look at the brands, they range from Banana Republic to off-brand to department store (looks like mostly Macy's).

eShakti is great and easily customizable to your measurements, which is great if you have exaggerated measurements, an hourglass figure, etc. I find that they're really good if you're interested in modesty.

ModCloth is where I go for style inspiration, but I rarely buy anything from them. Check who makes the clothing item and search for them outside of ModCloth -- they have a huge markup.

Poshmark and other resell places can be great if you have a good handle on how items might fit you. Shopbop is great if you're into expensive clothes.

I really like to get my dresses from Etsy. They can be a little pricey some times, but I can usually find something that works from clearance/ sale marked dresses. More expensive things I keep favorited in a separate account as a sort of wish list my husband goes through for gift shopping. Those dresses I have had forever they are such great quality anytime I splurge it is usually worth it.

do you get Uniqlo over there? they make really comfortable, flattering dresses that i love to wear. simple in style, but still lovely and feminine.
