Substitute teaching is a good gig that pays pretty well, and the work is flexible (choose to work or not). Good hours. Low stress--at least for me...I have teaching experience so it's a cake walk compared to actual teaching.

Each state has different requirements, but it's worth looking into if that's your jam.

How old are your children? Does it have to be from home? Or can you do part time (i.e. AM hours?)

I sell things from thrift stores, auctions, and yard sales on ebay. Branched out to Etsy last year with vintage, mainly because this one thrift shop by me always has vintage clothing and shoes. It works, but you only get out of it what you put into it. Tough job for a procrastinator like me. It's a great side hussle if you just want to work 10-15 hours a week and make a couple hundred bucks. I started by selling extra things around the house I didn't need. I was constantly surprised at the things people will buy!

I wouldn't recommend making things to sell unless you they are really fast and easy to make. For the most part you just don't earn enough profit on handmade items. Tried Amazon - fees too high and it's time consuming to find inventory. Took a class on affiliate marketing and that's not for me (kind of a pain to get it rolling).

So I was talking with one of my new coworkers and she said the old medical records clerk from our firm actually put herself up on Freelancer to summarize medical records for law firms that needed some extra help. It pays extremely well, but it helps to have a little bit of medical knowledge. I'm looking at doing this to bring in some cash when I'm on maternity leave eventually.

I teach but summer is open so I'll do editing, tutoring, childcare and commissioned textiles work (everyone suggests I do an etsy shop but I'm not too keen on putting in the time and materials without being sure of a buyer).

maybe look into reselling stuff from China online. you can buy all sorts of items dirt cheap from places like aliexpress and set up a simple etsy or shopify store.
