I love being married with lots of kids. This is the best time of my life so far.

I also really enjoyed being single during my twenties. I had an adorable apartment, decorated on a budget, but oh, so cozy. I worked a LOT during the school year, substitute teaching and working part time as a circulation clerk at the library, while getting my master's degree. School breaks were just so much fun, though. I'd spend the days at my apartment's pool, going to the gym, watching my favorite shows, teaching myself to crochet. I'd stay up all night sewing and reading. I did string art one summer and was just the absolute worst upstairs neighbor.

My advice is to lean into this time of life. Enjoy where you are while you're there. One day, you'll be wrapping christmas presents at three a.m., enjoying a rare moment of solitude. It'll be amazing, but that doesn't mean what you're doing now can't also be fun.

When you stay sober at a party, you see how dull the party is, how foolish some people act, how alcohol fuels the illusion of a good time. It's a losing game, the more you drink the worse off you'll be. I'll take the fullness of family over the emptiness of hedonism any day.

It’s not just you!! I’m 26 & engaged to the most loving man who’s a big provider, and as soon as we got engaged, all I can think about is being an amazing wife and mother. I love love career and academia, but lo and behold, a traditional approach feels wayyy more fulfilling in this season of my life.

I want to move to another country, meet a guy there & get married & have many many children, but I cant wait anymore ughhh. All the sensless boring studying, everyone goes partying & gets drunk (this is so disgusting to me).

It would be so much nicer to be married & have a big family, spending every night with people you love, going to mass together, it sounds like a dream. 😭

As much as I want to build a dream home with the person I love and start a loving family of our own, I feel like there are far more aspects to consider before doing so. Finding happiness in yourself, be stable mentally & emotionally to not pass all your traumas and issues to your future kids, discover yourself and to explore the world alone without having to worry about bills and kids, a house, emergency funds, and a decent livelihood. After all of these, I just can’t wait to become that loving and beautiful wife, best cool mom, and a role model to the younger generation.

Nothing is stopping you from doing this now, and certainty not your education.

I am currently in my doctorate and met my fiancé during my master’s. We are both devout Catholics and he is a blessing in my life. He allows me to be traditionalist, expects a traditionalist lifestyle as you describe, while also financially supporting me through my doctorate now. We are set to marry next year in the Fall and I should finish my doctorate by the following term. At that point, I’ll need to, because we aren’t waiting to have babies!

I say all of this to inspire you to change your social circles. Even in college, and I currently work in higher education, there are many traditionalist clubs or religious clubs so you can meet like minded individuals. Start going to mass in your town or serve in ministry. I think that’ll help find what you are looking for - And don’t stop studying in the meantime!
