Getting up with husband before work...

My cousin is a SAHM and she gets up hours before her husband and son, gets showered, dressed, house tidied, coffee on, breakfast started, the whole works. After she gets husband off to work and son off to school she takes a nice long nap :)

Both me and my SO work, and on different days each of us is up first. The person leaving the house kisses the other good bye. If I'm the one still in bed I'll also flash my SO as he heads out the door.

My husband gets up at 5 and is out the door by 5:30 every morning. When he first started this shift I started getting up just to see him off, but it was pretty silly. He doesn't like to talk first thing in the morning, didn't need my help with anything, and said he felt guilty waking me up. Now I just make sure he has clean/pressed clothes and a packed lunch the night before. =]

My sister in law is a SAHM and she gets up at 4am with my brother to cook him breakfast and get the kids off to school. They get a fresh breakfast and lunch every day. She also meets him at work most days and they eat together. It's a nice system. My SO expressed that he likes that arrangement so I'm sure it's in our future when kids start appearing :)

My husband gets up at 5am for the gym then comes home and gets ready for work. I try to stay out of his way so he can get ready for work w/o me interfering. I also get our son up and ready for the day, and IF my husband wants to help with that, great, but I don't expect it. He's on morning duty Sat/Sun. I think we do well taking turns.

Everybody's dynamic is different, but I agree it's important for me to put his needs ahead, since he's the one going to work, I don't want his day to start off negatively! For both of us really.

Mine works nights but when he's not I always get up first and fix his breakfast for him.

I've been called "a SAHM stuck in the 50's" (I'm only in my early 30's) on Facebook by a "friend" because I do stuff like this. What is so wrong about wanting to take care of your husband? It's just fine to go above and beyond for our kids but if you devote yourself to taking care of a man that's wrong?!?! I just don't understand.

I always get up early, I love to get in a bit of exercise and have hubby's breakfast ready for him when he gets up. I find if I sleep in on any other day except Sunday I struggle to get moving.

I'd really love to do this, but I'm a narcoleptic and my SO has to leave for work at 7am. I always pack his lunch at night, and he wakes me up to say bye every morning.

I have a kinda similar system. I don't "get up with him" but I changed my sleep schedule to match his so we can spend more time together. He works graves, and since I can't work, I figured if I kept up a normal sleep schedule I'd miss so much time on the weekends sleeping. So I changed, even though the transition was pretty difficult. The funniest thing is people are surprised though I changed my schedule to match his. To me it was obvious, but to others it seems "so wonderful and self sacrificing"! Bullshit, it's selfish , I love spending time with him lol

I get up with my SO, he likes to take a shower in the morning so that gives me enough time to get breakfast ready for him and start tea.

Lately one thing he loves, I make croissants(bonus you can make pain au chocolate from the same dough!) in mass early in the week and freeze right after prepped, and then I'll just cover them up and let them proof while we sleep, so by the time he wakes up he has fresh croissants.

I pack his lunch in the evening and then he's as happy as ever :) saves us a ton of money too!

I'd love to strive to do this. Husband works at 7 each weekday morning and is often out the door by 6:15. This is pretty early for me as I have evening classes for college a couple days a week and don't get home until 9:00. I think the days where I don't have a late night I should give it a try.

I know I'm late to the party, but I just want to say that to me, this is what would put you above most girls. It means a lot, especially in this culture where both people work and get on with their busy lives instead of giving some time to their partner in this manner.

My mother always got up with my father, no matter what hour he had to work. I'm always up before my SO is anyways, so I turn on the coffee, take care of the dog and so on. Sometimes I have to get up for work hours before he does though. I still set up the coffee for him so all he has to do is turn it on.
