So as the title says, I'm emotionally challenged. When it comes to reading other people, I think I do fine but when it comes to discussing my own feelings and why I feel the way I do, I just don't know where to begin or how to communicate it.

This has been a consistent and big problem in my relationship with my captain and it's kind of a big pattern that I can't seem to shake. The pattern generally goes as follows:

My body language communicates that something is bothering me. My SO asks what's wrong. I say that nothing is wrong and lately I've paused to think before still saying nothing is wrong because I want to be honest and truthful about my answer. He says that clearly something is wrong and that I'm lying to him and he just wants me to be honest. I insist that in all honesty, there was nothing wrong before because I seriously don't think anything is wrong. Then it just spirals downward until I start crying and apologizing and he is upset for a day and then it's back to normal for us until it happens again in a few weeks.

I don't know if anyone else has these problems with not understanding themselves to this extend. A lot of the times I go through periods of just straight apathy. I do not feel happy or upset or anything. I emotionally turn off to the world and idk why or how to stop it.

If anyone can suggest any kind of explanation for this or therapy exercises or books to read to better understand myself and my own emotions, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone else experience this as well?? I'm starting to think that I'm just crazy.
