After hearing what I heard in the IRC I'm with you 100%.
[β]Duke_LFG4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Can we get some elaboration?
[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
no
[β]Passerby6 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
the culture of reddit, combined with the male userbase of TRP has contorted certain ideas almost beyond recognition and comprehension.
Can you elaborate? Obviously I'm shocked, but if all of you think this is best, then I guess there were issues behind the scenes. Will the irc change too?
[β]PhantomDream09 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In an effort to detach ourselves peacefully and amicably, we are limiting the information being disclosed.
The IRC will be the same, one of the other RPW mods (WingN I believe) owns the room.
We're very excited to move forward and create a wonderful community. Check out the new sub when you have a chance :0)

The difference was over moderation policy.
The founder (RPS) wanted a broader range of opinions to be expressible without leading to an instant ban.
Others felt that allowing some other voices to be heard was not in women's best interest.
Insofar as I understand RPS's statements, it wasn't so much about any particular opinion as the way that disagreement was met with a ban, rather than a reply.
I mostly agree. I think women need a much politer, more harmonious group than the rough-and-tumble atmosphere of TRP. But I worry that some women were coming in, hoping for advice, and being told they were horrible people and promptly kicked out, without being heard or having their needs respected.
I don't know how prevalent that was, having only seen it when and where I was here (rarely). But I did see things that troubled me.
Going forward, we are thinking in terms of much less moderator interference, with mods working more to make sure people play nice, and less to try to steer the discussion.
[β]Passerby6 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I understand that a broader range of opinions might be helpful, however, if TRP males are encouraging women to give away sex easily, isn't that at odds with RPW strategies? Aren't posters at TRP banned if they offer blue pill advice?
[β]CrazyHorseInvincibleModerator[M] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if TRP males are encouraging women to give away sex easily, isn't that at odds with RPW strategies?
Absolutely is it, and RPW is for helping women use RP information to help their goals, not men's.
TRP readers trying to vent anger here, or use it for their ends will be shown the door.
But when the question arises "How do unmarried women deal with the realities of the modern sexual marketplace?", the answer can't be "You are banned.", because that doesn't help women who don't already have a husband.
Not all red pill women are wives yet, and if they want to become wives, they need to be able to help each other pursue that goal. And to do that, they need to be able to talk about the hurdles they face without the fear of being banned for saying the wrong thing.
Hard-line advice about saving it for marriage can still be part of that conversation. But it can't be allowed to silence other voices by using mod tools, because some women who come seeking advice are not willing to do that, or indeed able to do that without rolling back time. These women are not "write-offs". Sure, some feminist-influenced types may come in, not like the truth, and storm off in a huff, but the red pill is about offering real talk to anyone who will listen, not protecting the narrative at all costs.

As CrazyHorse mentioned, if guys come here looking to push their own agenda, they will be banned.

Unfortunately, that's the kind of language that gets you banned. While a lighter moderation policy is what we're shooting for, we can't allow people to personally abuse each other, regardless of who the target or the perpetrator is.
I'm going to give you a timeout to cool off, so you can decide if you want to stay here and say whatever opinion you want POLITELY, or talk in other places where you can be foulmouthed as you like.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire-4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
It is a pointless move. The mods were upset that there are inconvenient truths that they don't want to face.
[β]fhigurethisout6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
it's quite interesting that you haven't brought up those "inconvenient" truths that they apparently do not wish to face. As far as I am concerned, the rpw mods are completely in line with core rp tenets.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
There is absolutely nothing wrong with their view that marriage is the best and ultimate goal for women. It's a sure bet if you can get it.
From what I was linked, they were upset about a conversation regarding sex 2.0 and the fall of marriage as a viable option for men. The question needed to be asked, how many high value men will continue to see marriage as an option. This was the discussion that was censored. I, for one, really wanted to see the discussion play out.
[β]fhigurethisout 6 points6 points6 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
how is that discussion relevant to rpw? how does it add any value to core rpw tenets?
this has absolutely nothing to do with becoming a good woman and being the best partner that you can be, so it is quite justified that it was removed. the RPW mods are very good at keeping rpw-related content in the sub.
if women want to read about these sorts of things, they can go onto TRP or askTRP.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire-3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I certainly don't think it should be the focus of every conversation. But to simply censor it entirely is against the values I founded the sub on. Truth, no matter how harsh it may be.
[β]fhigurethisout10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
...and let rpw become a cesspool of men saying "look, high value men don't want marriage" and a bunch of other trp truths that rpw are already aware of?
just because it's the truth it doesn't mean it's relevant to the conversation or goals of a sub. might as well post about the earth being round, too.
the other issue is that a lot of TRP men are going through the anger-phase, have become misogynist, plate-spinners, whatever. that is totally fine.
but it absolutely does not belong in the RPW subreddit, just as female sexual strategy does not belong in the male subreddit. the mods are excellent at keeping it that way.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire-2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I kept my eyes on the conversation. It wasn't "let all men speak." If you recall, I made the sticky post saying "no more 'man here'" posts.
It was whisper who was banned that I disagreed with. His points are well articulated, and not trolling.
[–]fhigurethisout10 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
his points may be well-articulated, and maybe he's a friend of yours or something.
however, it still does not mean that it is relevant.
aside from that, i've actually seen some of his posts https://archive.is/UI0fh . why would they want someone who says there are "no red pill women" contributing to the sub!?
the majority of what he says is against RPW. it makes perfect sense that he should not be apart of this community.
[–]CrazyHorseInvincible1 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
That's what he said after being banned from here with what he described as "an insulting message" (don't know exactly what). Back before he was banned, he was putting what looks like a good deal of effort into posts like
https://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/1jv82n/the_difference_between_submissive_and_obedient/
https://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/1j9tg3/too_concrete_too_literal_take_a_step_back/
https://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/1j0n7t/the_slut_and_how_not_to_be_one/
If he was indeed treated shabbily, it may have soured his opinion of this group considerably. Especially since some of the ladies from here chose to get into it with him in askTRP (I had to remove them).
[–]fhigurethisout2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
so because he got banned, his whole opinion on red pill women changed? that's absolutely ridiculous. to counter this, he was still posting in rpw three days ago. these posts were more than three days ago. so what, was he unbanned right away?
something makes me think that there are other problems here that aren't being discussed.
and all the aside, it doesn't change the fact that the topic was irrelevant in the first place.
i'm disappointed that it's come to this. men shouldn't be moderating a woman's sub nor should they be encouraging non-rpw relate topics in the community. i think it's for the best to have a sub only moderated by women who run their own manosphere blogs etc.
so because he got banned, his whole opinion on red pill women changed?
You'd have to ask him what his opinion is.
He was banned quite a while ago... I think one of the mods had something personal against him. Dunno quite what was said, but that was what I heard.
But some ECs from RPW got banned from TRP, RPS decided that shouldn't happen, and bans on both sides were reversed.
i think it's for the best to have a sub only moderated by women
I agree. I'm willing to help out in the transition period, but my involvement here has only been occasional up to this point, and I'm still working with getting a handle on where to draw the line between "making people play nice" and "keeping this a non-pc space for real talk".
The traffic is much easier to handle than TRP's daily crush, but a women's group has different needs, so we're not really a good long-term fit. Volunteers are being sorted through.

Understandable if you want to keep some info hidden, but addressing your sudden distaste of TRP, may I ask what ideas or ideologies have being twisted?
I'm honestly very curious.
[β]TempestTcup 3 points3 points3 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
We may expound on this further in the future, but right now let's say that there was a difference of opinion about the basic tenets of the women's sexual strategy that we practiced here.
[β]RojoEscarlata1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I hope it fares well for you, I'm strongly against division of people who share the same ideology, but I know that you and the other mods are capable people, so good luck.

I understand, no middle ground even?
The moderation of the language is agreeable, but if I'm interpreting Scottish intentions well is to prevent that RPW start to βdegrade" certain RP core ideas, because some of the main cores of TRP are very blunt and βoff putting" to women in itself, and trying to prevent this is a slippery slope into degrading true concepts into more βpolitically correct" terms. Only time will tell if RPWives becomes a truthful place of information, or feminism 4.0
[β]CrazyHorseInvincibleModerator[M] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately, some the parties to the discussion were not willing to accept a compromise.
The reason I'm starting out with the idea of policing rudeness is that:
I fully expect some TRP readers who are still in the anger phase to take this as an excuse to come in here and sound off. Already had to instaban one guy.
We've had some issues with women who have less-than-ideal sexual histories being hounded out of the place, rather than told "there's only so much you can do, but here's some damage control advice".
I'm still trying to process what the community needs. I have much modding experience in TRP, which certainly does help, I know what works and what doesn't, but I have to care for and protect a different set of core values, and my initial impression is that women don't quite want the full rough-and-tumble atmosphere of TRP. If that proves to be a mistaken impression, then we can scale it back.
I share your concerns about becoming too "politically correct". The problem is that when mod tools are used to enforce one point of view, that view becomes the new political correctness. Hence the idea that mods are supposed to keep things civil, not enforce orthodoxy.
Only time will tell if RPWives becomes a truthful place of information, or feminism 4.0
I don't think that's the real hazard. My concern would be whether it becomes a place only for 40+ aged women who are already married to discuss their needs, and not a source of valuable advice for the women who are in their 20s and want to be able to get married, especially when they are confronting the harsh realities of the modern dating scene, which is not kind to young women who don't want to end up being stuck on the carousel.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire-2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
There were no major differences in opinion on strategy. We all agreed on the marriage topic. The mods got upset because I did not want them banning inconvenient truths. The tag line "Better to be slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie" was something the mod team did not want to live by.
I'm with you, but knowing Archwinger he didn't slap them with the truth but freaking hammer jacked them with it.
Truth is not meant to be βeasy" to take but delivering your message with overly crass language is not something we should encourage.
Saying this knowing very well the retoric Archwinger use.
[β]redpillschoolModerator Extraordinaire1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree that being overly crass shouldn't be (and isn't) particularly welcome. Actually, it was /u/whisper the mods were upset about. They didn't like him. I do.
[β]mrsblueberry-4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Equitable? I dont think you know what that word means.
[β]PhantomDream09 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We no longer agree with certain things, and we (the moderating team) want to make sure that we preserve female RP interests. I'm not sure how we could have parted ways in a more neutral and amicable manner. We removed ourselves as mods, and left the sub exactly as it existed before we started making improvements and additions.
[β]TheTerrorSquadEndorsed Contributor4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
It's pertaining to things of equity or fairness, just and right. They no longer think this is happening if they maintain ties to TRP. Going out on a limb and I'd say they're not doing us a just service if they do so. All your comments are so salty lol

[β]CrazyHorseInvincibleModerator[M] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
"Salty" was a bit personal. It's the kind of thing you'd see on TRP, which is what dudes like, not what women like.
It's possible that it's not over the line. I am still trying to get a feel for what the community needs, having been asked as of this morning to help out.
What I'm going with so far is:
I'm sure that in a little while I'll be able to refine that some. It's a totally different community, and I expect to have to apply very different standards than when modding TRP... almost to the extent of being a different person.
[β]whitebunny87 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
which is what dudes like, not what women like
lol @ a man telling a woman what women like in their sub.
[β]TheTerrorSquadEndorsed Contributor2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That's interesting you see it like that. I work hard to not be rude with people whilst still trying to be congruent.
One of the things I love about RPW was how we don't mollycoddle women and not sugar coat things. Don't lose that
[β]CrazyHorseInvincibleModerator[M] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I see your point.
I'm very concerned with keeping this place an atmosphere that's geared towards women, and not trying to import TRP wholesale. Because we say crazy-aggressive stuff to each other over there.
But I agree that I also need to be concerned with not shutting anyone up just because the truth hurts someone's feels. Because that's the exact opposite of what TRP is about.
(I've put back your comment. Decided I was being too hair-triggered.)
This place needs female mods, because as a man, I'm not totally capable of really "getting it". I'm okay with that. But finding the right people, who will wield the banhammer against trolls, not against differences of opinion, is going to be a transitional task that requires some effort and time.
That may be going a bit far.
The difference of opinion was indeed about heavy moderation vs. light moderation. However, I think everyone involved wants to have a sub that is helpful to women. They just don't agree on what that would look like.
In short, the subreddit founder (RPS) felt that a lighter touch with moderation was needed, whereas some of the other mods thought that some opinions should be removed from view, rather than debated with.
In the future, expect moderation to more about everyone playing nice, and less about not expressing certain ideas. Less of a cathedral, more of a bazaar.
