It depends. Genital herpes doesn’t cause cancer or health issues (aside from the skin discomfort), unlike some other stds. The risk of transmission when the person is on daily medication and not having an active outbreak is very, very low. There are married couples who have been having unprotected sex for decades where the spouse still hasn’t contracted herpes when on the suppression meds. If I believed this person was otherwise an excellent partner, after thoroughly vetting them, I would be fine taking that risk. But I also wouldn’t judge anyone for not wanting to take that risk.

Something like 85% of people with genital herpes are asymptomatic and roughly 12% of people have genital herpes. So if the other person has slept with 5 people, there's a good chance they've been exposed to it. Someone who's on anti virals for it is probably less likely to give it to you than some person by chance.

Doctors are discouraged from testing for it on std panels unless if the patient has symptoms of it cause the psychological stress is seen as greater than any health negatives that usually arise from genital herpes.

Genital herpes is one of those weird things with massive social taboo elements to it even though the vast majority of people with it don't even know they have it.

You can't protect 100% against a herpes outbreak in any way but by abstaining for the duration. Outbreaks are rare, but I can see the turnoff in that case. However, you've changed your post to be about HPV and genital warts. That's a pretty big change, because genital warts aren't really a threat to a woman if she's had the Gardasil vaccine.

Most people have some strain of HPV, but if you had the vaccine before you were sexually active, this is literally nothing and extremely common. If you haven't had the vaccine, then it's very likely you'll get your own occasional wart one day and I'd hope men are more understanding. The strain that causes warts is not the strain that causes cancer, but both are protected against by the Gardasil vaccine. If you've had any partners, you could easily already have HPV and no systoms, so either way, it's very much a non-issue, medically speaking.

After a bad experience I started reflecting that just for kissing someone you can get STDs, fungus, infections, wich can be treated with antibiotics but how disgusting. Then I though why would I put myself trough this just for hooking up with random people. Now I see hookup people, such as I was, as potentially gross, Its not only the viruses, but the fact that you dont know how many other people mouths and private parts have been on her mouth.

Your situation was diferent I get it, Im just sharing my thoughts.

Full text: My ex had genital herpes, and not going to lie that was the main reason I broke up with him. I’m clean and did not want to risk it regardless of my deep connection. My grandmother got endo cancer from her HPV, I don’t wish that on anyone.
