My college has posters in the bathrooms outlining what rape is. It's nonsense. I want to write on it "regret is not rape!"

Rape is at an all time low. Girls forcing themselves to have sex with strangers when they don't want to because they think they are supposed to and then regretting it is at an all time high.

A woman can take responsibility and dress a certain way and not put themselves in positions, but as others have said in these comments, young women, namely teen and early 20s, don’t always understand or know how to diffuse sexual situations. Men are physically stronger than women, so they also need to take responsibility to reel in their strength as needed. There needs to be more education for both young men and women on this matter.

Young men need to be taught not to pressure young women into sex, and women need to be taught that they have the power to get out of these situations. I can only speak for myself, being a young woman, i was put in several situations where I felt pressured and it was confusing. It’s unfortunate that schools don’t have mandatory education about this. Instead, college kids take useless intro classes that don’t give any useful life skill and don’t apply to their degree.

I think it can also be confusing for women when we are supposed to be fit, look beautiful and high SMV, then we find that being attractive inevitably attracts more sexual attention from men and young women aren’t always equipped to navigate this attention. I’m not talking about dressing like a slut. I’m sure as other attractive women have noticed, when you have certain assets or body type you’ll get sexual attention no matter how you dress.

I also find it super offensive.

Because when a ton of people are taking every little thing as rape (being cat called, some dude fb messaging them 100 times, regret, etc) it makes ACTUAL rape victims less credible! By trying to help - they're hurting real victims of sexual assault. Women and men who need therapy, who need their rapist to go to jail and who deserve support less noticeable and important.

I agree with this, and this was my initial reaction to the #metoo thing. As a married woman in my thirties, it seems obvious how to conduct myself in a way that minimizes most of the risk.

However, I started thinking about myself at 20, at 15, at 12. It was much harder then. Maybe my parents didn't explicitly teach me how to behave. Probably they did and I didn't want to hear it. But I often found myself in situations I didn't want to be in and couldn't figure out how I'd gotten there. That point when things started to head in the wrong direction didn't really become clear to me until my mid-twenties. I guess I was a late bloomer in this regard. I can see now that I often unwittingly lead guys on and then didn't know how to gracefully exit the situation. I'm not defending myself or blaming the guys. I think most 14 year olds are at the whim of their hormones and I feel lucky that nothing too awful ever happened to me. But I think the problem lies in what we teach our kids. Maybe our young girls in particular. I wish I'd known then how easy it is to maintain polite and friendly, without it becoming flirtatious. It was a really blurry line for me back then and I don't think I'm the only one.

You are 100% missing the real point and this blog post reads like a watered down version of Mayim Bialik’s awful op-ed.

We are not talking about sex then regretting it. We are not saying that we refuse to avoid compromising situations just to prove a point.

There are many logical fallacies in that post but I’ll start with the biggest one. You assume that all sexual predators put on their “bad guy” hat in the morning and go out to hurt women. And that us, being ‘good girls’ can avoid them b/c we’re super smart or something.

I forgot the exact article, but I read a study where a college professor asked his mostly-male class in an anonymous poll if they had ever raped a woman. Obviously the answers were zero or close to it. Then the following question asked if they had ever penetrated a woman without her explicit permission, or if they ‘kept going to finish’ when she said to ‘stop’ or ‘hold on, wait.’ The answers rose to 30% yes.

I am a petite blonde with H sized breasts. Im constantly in conservative, classy attire (all the way down to the silk gloves) and I never get cat called. I only get respectfully complimented. But that didn’t stop my PhD advisor from sexually harassing me leaving me with no choice but to quit & look for new work.

What you’re saying doesn’t change the point at all & it reflects a deep-seated misunderstanding of social dynamics. Dressing conservatively has never stopped other women from being harassed or assaulted.

We’re not saying men can’t find women attractive. We’re not saying they can’t talk to a pretty lady on the street. We’re not saying that women who regret sleeping with a guy should be coddled & told they were assaulted.

We are trying to create a shift in culture that respects women’s choice to participate in sexually-charged or suggestive situations.

It’s GOOD that men take action & ask out a pretty girl. It’s GOOD that men channel their testosterone in a healthy way.

All we want is to have our choice in the matter be respected & to not have our professional/personal lives at stake if we don’t want to participate.

Loneliness_inc, even The Red Pill and RooshV forums disagree with your approach and analysis here. It is too shallow and too unevolved for either men or women.
