Ok I know y’all told me to ditch him and that he isn’t interested. It turns out to be somewhat true. But not to where he absolutely didn’t see any potential.
(He brought this conversation up btw, not me) He said even though he enjoyed every date we had and was feeling a little confident in being in a potential relationship eventually but wasn’t feeling emotionally ready to start a relationship with me due to unresolved feelings from his previous relationship and that’s why he kinda emotionally shut down and didn’t want to initiate everything. His ex came over to his house crying for financial help and that her life was horrible after they broke up (he did help her btw).
He apologized and told me to communicate anything I’m concerned with.
But he also said he didn’t want me to resent him and lose me as a friend and even said that I didn’t do anything wrong and I’d be “perfect girlfriend material any guy would be lucky to have.
I told him that it’s probably best to cut off dating anyway because of where he is emotionally and he agreed (well obviously he already figured that out, I just wanted to hint to him that I’m not looking for any dates soon).
I’m saddened by it but it’s for the best. For the best of us both really. Not as anxious about what he’s thinking and if I do, I’m welcome to bring things up. Also I need to focus on saving money to getting t a driver’s license and a van. I’ve always wanted to do van life for a while and I’m pretty close to getting the car too.
I thought it was really nice of him to suggest a friend if I’m ever having car problems. Like despite the lack of communication, I don’t think he’s that bad relationship wise. He’s very thoughtful and very much in his masculine energy and likes to fix things. I feel very safe with him too.
But now I’d just rather assume there won’t be any hope for a potential relationship and worry about other things. But it’s the little things that give me hope that says he would want to be with me if he could. Even on my trip he asked to send pictures of everything, like he’s still interested in my life and what I’m doing.
If it were a relationship where he seemed careless and didn’t show much interest in what I liked and didn’t validate any feelings I had, I’d drop him so fast emotionally by now. Like he didn’t even push sex on me and was ok with the two of us taking our time. He initiated some touching but didn’t go too far and was very affectionate about it too.
Oh well. Moving on.
But should I be concerned if a guy says I’m perfect gf material?
