Have you guys had any luck finding female friends who share the same values as you? I don’t have a ton of female friends. I live in my husbands home town of 2100 people, it isn’t where I grew up. I have met some of the wives from the fire dept he volunteers at and because of the family atmosphere of the department we often hang out/are together with their families.

My problem is that they constantly complain about their husbands. How unhelpful they are, how lazy they are, how they withhold sex when they’re mad, how useless they are, etc. I don’t feel this way about my husband at all. I can’t really boast about him or speak on my own marriage because they will immediately come at me like I’m bragging or delusional or whatever. I’m in a group chat with them I really can’t get out of without being rude (and I want to remain cordial for the sake of my husbands aspirations at the department which is very important to him). But I just hate hearing them constantly go on. I can’t even give them advice because the couple times I have they respond like it’s more criticism than anything else…. Maybe it is because I subconsciously don’t respect the way they participate in their marriages.

With that being said I literally don’t have many options for female friends outside of them and it seems to be such the norm for women these days, even in the blue collar rural community I live in, to behave this way towards their husbands. I know their husbands and while they aren’t anything like my husband, they aren’t bad guys by any means. They may not be as emotionally engaged with their children as the women would like but they definitely financially provide.

Have you guys had luck finding women who share your ideals and values in your areas or is equally as difficult for you? I just want wife friends who like to cook and want to share recipes, and crochet together and do play dates where they don’t trash talk their husbands or get drunk at the bar.
