In my pursuit of incorporating more RP ideals into my marriage dressing more feminine has been something I’ve focused on. I was never un-feminine - I’ve always gotten my hair done and liked to have my nails done/do my makeup, etc. but my style was not feminine. Mostly jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts or shirts. I’ve totally revamped my closet into feminine blouses, dresses and heels / heeled sandals. I’m feeling so good about myself, my husband has even followed suit and revamped his own wardrobe a bit.

My problem is that it seems when I dress nicely and go out into public I’m met with stares from other women. I’m not a flashy person - we’re talking a-line dresses and 3 inch heels nothing insane. But I never see other women dress nicely out in public really ever and it’s hard not to feel like the odd (wo)man out… I know this can be as simple as not caring what others think which is what I focus on but why the heck does no one bat an eye when women wear pajama pants and slippers to pick up their kids from school but it’s like I have three eyes when I wear dresses and heels… It makes me so self conscious. Wondering if anyone else experiences this in their community - it’s sort of ostracizing
