SO doesn't like makeup

The thing is that I see sooo many posts in here that I have to always use makeup and prepare myself for dates,

What overrides everything you see in here is, do what makes your SO happy.

The generalities that you see are there because most men appreciate these things. If you have a man that genuinely prefers something else, you do what he likes.

What? Heavens no! You take from here what works but anything your SO doesn't like can be thrown in the garbage. It's about pleasing him, not pleasing the masses. It is also said a lot in here not to have crazy colored hair or tattoos, but Husband likes my hair in pastels and bright reds so I'm not going to dye it brown just because most other men would prefer it that way. Don't worry about wearing makeup around him, and when you really want to, make it the bare minimum.

The biggest take away from this sub is that you should do what makes your SO happy. If he doesn't like make up then don't wear it. He may be someone who appreciates it on certain occasions, but doesn't deem it necessary all the time. That's okay. Do what works for the two of you in this situation.

He may prefer a look that is so natural it is unnoticeable. It could be that he likes the no makeup look where you're wearing things that are so neutral and natural he can't tell and that's what works for him. It's okay to experiment a little to find what really trips his trigger.

If you need information on braids check out youtube tutorials. There are tons of styles and ways to do it that you may find helpful. There are also often tutorial pictures on pinterest that you may find to be useful.

Do you just not believe him or what? What's the point. Makeup is fake, it's for sexual selection, and you never needed it in the first place if you're SO doesn't like it. Unless it's your job, or you're trying to impress someone else then there's really no point.

Mine never loved make up except mascara and lipbalm on the rare occasion and neither do I so it's perfect that way. He loves me without and I love me without, why would I want to show him I look good with it when he prefers me natural.

Since he doesn't like it, don't wear any!!! Is there any reason you want to ease him into it? Is it because you like wearing makeup and want to continue wearing it? Do you think that he just thinks he doesn't like makeup, when really he likes 'no makeup makeup'?

Check YouTube for braiding tutorials and other hair ideas! There's sooo many.

I have spent 31+ years trying to talk the wife out of wearing any makeup. My favorite look for her is the moment she crawls out of bed. I love that disheveled, crazy-hair look. She hates it.

I would so much rather see her in that pony-tail look she lays down at the beach than the made up look that she insists on when she goes out. So she has indulged me for the most part and I love that about her.

Trust him and what he is telling you.

My SO recently told me that he doesn't like me wearing make up. It was really weird to hear at first, and kind of hard to start to break myself away from it.

Instead of continuing to use make up or try to convince him to like it, I started to think about why I wanted to wear make up and it was because I was insecure. I was wearing it b/c I was insecure about my skin, so I just focused on taking good care of my skin, so I am working on so I feel like I had don't have to hide

But if you love your SO and he is the one who matters to you, then don't wear it! You just have to focus on the fact that he is the one who loves you and he's the one you want to look good for, then don't wear it! Wearing make up is bad for your skin anyway. Be natural and look how your man wants you to look! He likes you natural, so do it!

If you have a blemish or bags under your eyes, dab on some concealer. If you want to dress up for the day, put on a little bit of mascara. He isn't playing games if he's telling you what he like. It's up to you to decide how important that is to you.

My SO is the same way as yours, he really prefers me without makeup - I use makeup as a bit of a mental crutch to feel more put-together, but I'm transitioning out of that!

The biggest helps I've found to keep a groomed/professional appearance without it are 1) take care of your skin, r/skincareaddiction is very helpful in understanding a healthy routine for whatever your goal is; 2) groom your eyebrows! Keeping them shaped and clean makes the biggest difference in your face, even more than makeup does! 3) focus on jewelry as indicators - so where you would normally do professional makeup vs. party makeup, do professional jewelry vs. party jewelry to help you feel appropriate for occasions. Investing effort into your appearance (which I think is what men appreciate) does not have to mean makeup.

And finally, every time you look in the mirror, tell yourself "SO thinks I'm beautiful!" It totally changes your perspective and will make you smile too :)

There are two types of no makeup, the actual, honest to goodness no makeup...and the "no makeup" makeup. Most guys who say they don't like makeup actually like "no makeup" makeup. The biggest issue is that too much makeup, where it is obvious that you are wearing makeup, looks easy. There is a reason that there is a phrase "painted whore".

When someone looks at you and thinks "wow, she's pretty!" as opposed to "she's wearing makeup", you've probably got it about right.

If your man has a strong opinion on make-up, obviously honor that.

However, I think it's worth adding that most women in their twenties, who are at a normal weight and reasonably healthy, look pretty good without makeup. This is not necessarily the case as you age. So, go barefaced for now, and reevaluate as the years go by.

As the others have said, do what makes your SO happy. Don't try to force him to like makeup if he doesn't like it.

My SO personally doesn't care for makeup. He'll tell me I'm pretty if I'm wearing it well, let me know if I'm overdoing it, but doesn't mind if I don't. He finds me attractive regardless of if I wear makeup (unless it's done badly) or not. For me, this means finding a makeup style he likes and using that (if I want to wear makeup) or go natural if I'm not in the mood for it. This is what pleases him, so it's what I stick to.

I thought I preferred my wife without makeup until I started having a say in the makeup/hairstyle she chooses.

I told her for two years that I liked her better without it, and that I didn't like women wearing makeup in general. After finding TRP myself, I realized that what I didn't like was women who are superficial and entitled that also tend to wear lots of makeup.

Yes, I like it when my wife just curls her eyelashes and wears Chapstick. But now that I've come to understand myself as a man, I've been telling my wife what I like and have been very happy with the results.

I guess what you should take from my reflection is that his opinion on makeup could be value based, and is subject to change over time. Don't assume his preferences today will hold fast over time, check in with him occasionally, and be receptive to him if he does ask you to change things up.

You should master your "no make up" make up look. There's no such thing as going out without make up obvsly you still have to fill in your eyebrows and some mascara as well as some lip tint. Unless you are blessed with genetics.
