Maybe compassion is the wrong word, but I felt empathy didn't fit either.

I care a lot about others and think that no life should die if not necessary. I have nothing against eating meat, I even hunt myself (I always get very emotional and thankful though, don't feel pride in killing an animal). But if an animal is hurt I would do everything I could to save it. A couple of days ago I found an almost dead bee on my balcony. I felt sad and wanted to help it, took it inside in the warmth and gave it some water with sugar. After a couple of hours the bee flew away.

Well later that day the guy I'm dating came over and I told him enthusiastically about the bee. His reaction was to look at me with a weird look, laugh and telling me I'm crazy. It was neither particularly in a positive or negative way, more like he thought I was cute, but super spaced weirdo. :p He have said before that I remind him of an overly innocent Disney princess running around in the woods singing with birds flying around me.

He is very masculine, the most masculine man I have ever met actually. And he is often puzzled by me, but amused. Should I try to tone it a bit down? I don't want him to look at me like I'm a weirdo, but I like to feel what I feel and to live in the moment. The other day I had some birds feeding at my balcony and I yelled to him "don't move", because I wanted the birds to finish eating without being scared away and he was about to stand up.
