Here is a typical week day for me. I'm interested to see what other member's typical days look like and their tips for how they balance all their responsibilities!
05:30 – Wake-up. Every morning I do my hair, skin care routine and apply make-up. Most days I shower, but I have started showering more at night. If I washed my hair, I will blow it out with a round brush. If I shower the night before, I usually try to braid my hair to combat bed head. Otherwise, I will use dry shampoo and do a quick pass with the round brush. My morning skin care routine involves: cleansing, toning lotion, serum, moisturizing, sunscreen and tinted primer. I jade roll in the morning too. For make-up, I always fill in my eyebrows with powder, apply foundation, contour and mascara. If I’m feeling fancy or have more time I will apply eye make-up. If I do my eyes I will wear contacts instead of glasses.
07:00 – Leave the house. I practice IF and therefore don’t eat breakfast. I pack my lunch the night before. I will make DH breakfast and pack him a lunch if he asks, but because he is more of a snacker he usually gets a lunch box with an assortment of drinks and snacks that don’t need to be refrigerated.
08:00 – Work day starts.
12:00 – I eat the lunch I packed, usually at my desk. Some days I run home to steal a few minutes to myself or meet up with DH and have a lunch date
17:00 – Work day ends.
18:30 – Dinner time. We go out to eat once a week or less. We alternate between a freshly cooked meal and leftovers. I try to make meals that we can get 2-3 dinners out of to cut down on groceries and clean-up.
19:00 – Free time. Some nights this will mean taking care of chores, but most nights this is time for the home gym, TV, reading, video games, just talking to each other, etc.
21:30 – Bedtime.
Tips:
Create a capsule wardrobe. I wear a suit most days, so I started by buying 3 suits (black, dark grey, navy) with blazer, skirt, pants and dress. Then, I slowly purchased additional items that I could mix and match in (white, pink and light blue button-up shirts, red blazer, nude and black pumps, etc.) This will make is easier to build your outfit the night before.
Do as much as you can the night before. Pack lunches, make sure the bathroom is clean, lay out your whole outfit, pack your work back, prep what you can for tomorrow’s dinner, etc. You should be able to get out the door on auto-pilot each morning.
Build your own recipe book with easy meals. DH does the dishes in our house (his preference!), so I try to make recipes that make as few dishes as possible. Crockpot, Instant Pot and One Pot meals are our jam. When I make a new recipe, I always ask DH if he would like me to add it to our normal rotation. If he likes it enough, I will print the recipe and add it to a binder I use for meal planning.
