Men:

A coworker of mine decided it would be nice to start insulting me or mocking me every time I said or did something he didn't like.

It started as teasing but soon he went on to make it a usual thing. A few women laughed, and that got him going even harder.

I didn't know what to do. I couldn't punch him, and I didn't want to shut up either to avoid being punished. I'm shorter than him (and many of the women we work with), and that is something he used against me all the time.

Eventually I stopped pulling punches. I started mocking him for being older and decrepit, thin, always depressed, kind of dumb, sexually frustrated, etc.

At first, I did it only when he provoked me, but then I moved on to do it every now and then just to keep him on the edge.

Eventually, people got use to me throwing jabs at him, and now the stupid moron acts nice even 5 minutes after I've mocked him for some crap. And, in return, he rarely says anything about me when I'm in the room.

So... men respect strength.

Women:

Same workplace. The bitch was relatively new and understood she could easily manipulate other women or men around me to make me look like an asshole and force others to make me help her in order to avoid looking bad and keep my reputation in the company.

This got very hairy. It got to the point where I talked to management about her, almost got her fired, and she didn't even realized. Eventually, one of the owners decided to protect her.

I talked to her about her attitude, and she used it against me by trying to convince management to intervene in her behalf and kick me out of my position, away from her. She literally said "she wanted me out", and that's the reason she went to the owner directly...

When I found out about her lies, I demanded to speak with both the owner and her. I put her on the spot and diplomatically called her a manipulative bitch in front of him, and my manager didn't do anything to stop me. I wasn't irreplaceable, but the guy wasn't the confrontational type either.

After that meeting, things turned 180. She didn't change on the inside, and neither did I. But seeing me being able to almost insult her and put her on a corner in front of the freaking company owner was enough to show her she had to back off.

I didn't have strength on my own, but at the company, I got away with stuff that made her ponder twice who she was dealing with. This happened 6 months ago. I haven't heard a single thing from her, to the point that, whenever someone says something about me (even jokingly), she stays quite.

Women respect strength.
