Summary
I’ve started seeing more and more posts about how people have applied TRP to their lives. I want to share my own journey of unplugging, and what I have learned.
Body
Before The Pill
Took the pill a year ago. Like many of you, came her out of sexual frustration. I had above average success with girls, because I had been into PUA for a while (watched the RSD guys), but I wasn't satisfied.
PUA helps you appear like an alpha, but it’s all a facade. You're simply pretending that you're a confident alpha. In contrast, TRP helps you become an actual alpha, and explains inter-gender dynamics along with a whole lot more.
While I might have passed of as an alpha to some girls, on the inside I was fragile. Scared of the spotlight. Needy. Desperate for validation. Directionless. TRP has ripped the bitch out of me and made me face that faggot head on.
The Five Categories
During a time of reflection around new year's, I decided to separate my life into separate vague “categories,” highlighting the different parts of my life I want to work on. I wrote down a list of principles, for each category. It was actually inspired by a post titled “Priorities” here on TRP, but unfortunately it got deleted.
The categories are, from most to least important, philosophy, physical/mental health, work/learning, socializing, and hoes(women). I have a list of principles for each of these categories, which I have been editing, growing, and cutting for the last 5 months. These principles come from books, articles/blogs, TRP posts, and my real life experiences. I will be citing any inspiration for each principle, to give credit, and for further reading on the topic.
I’m sharing my Philosophy Principles in this post. I want to emphasize that I am not claiming these are universal or anything, it’s just what worked for me, based on my own specific set of problems. Feel free to critique and suggest new ones.
What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is the foundation on which you build your life. It’s your core thoughts about the nature of life. Philosophy is what you fall back on when, you are unavoidably struck by misfortune throughout life. Every other aspect of life is not guaranteed. Your girlfriend might cheat on you. The economy might tank and you lose your job. Your friends might move to a different country. You might be infected by an incurable disease. It’s not fun to think about, because it’s reality. The reality is that life owes you nothing. When others fall into depression and despair during such hardship, you must fall back onto your philosophical foundation to help you keep moving forward.
Principle 1
Nothing belongs to you except your present mind. Outcomes aren’t “good” or “bad”, only your immediate actions and thoughts. Punishing one’s self for past frivolity is an act of present frivolity. The future and past are too meaningless. [1][2]
Example: I had an interview for a position on my campus last week. Instead of worrying about who was going to interview me or whether I would get the position, I focused on only what I could do at that moment in time. You only ever have control of the present. Regret and anxiety are irrational emotions rooted in your past, your future, and things out of your control.
Principle 2
Excellence is mundane and boring. Focus on day-to-day training instead of grandiose goals. [3]
Example: When you see successful people doing amazing things, you’re only seeing the highlights. The reality is that in order to excel at anything, long hours of tedious, mundane, boring work have to be put in. When I’m eating the same goddamn salad I’ve been eating for the last month so I can get cut, I remember that excellence is 99 percent boring and 1 percent amzing. Read the original post for a full explanation.
Principle 3
Focus on your mission, and don’t let anything distract you. Live not in syllogisms, not in money, or fame, or self-indulgence. Nowhere. [1]
Example: First, I try not get bogged down in short term affairs. My mission is my long term success, which always take priority over the temporary. Second, I don’t live my life for any specific reason, such as money, fame or pussy. I don’t put emotional investment into anything that isn’t within my control, so I can't be controlled by others.
Principle 4
Align your thoughts, words, and actions. Happiness is when your expectations match your reality. [4]
Example: If I set up too high expectations for myself, I become overwhelmed and stressed. I am unproductive, and more importantly, unhappy when I’m stressed. Sometimes, the best productivity hack is to lighten the burned I put on myself. For example I will get bogged down while writing an essay by my own ridiculously high standards. But as soon as I take a shot of whiskey, the expectations fade away and the words begin to flow.
Principle 5
Misfortunes are natures prescriptions. The obstacles become the path. When you are, unavoidably, jarred by misfortune, retreat back to your philosophy, and keep moving forward. [1]
Example: Every one of you have applied this principle to your lives. The obstacles ( sexual frustration ) became the path (taking TRP). The obstacles I have faced throughout my life, have led me to the path I am on today. When I am faced with an obstacle, I just see an opportunity to create a new, unique path.
Principle 6
Life's a journey. Welcome the twists and turns along the path. Take it day by day, step by step. [5]
Example: I don’t know what my future hold, but I welcome it. Every experience I have is a unique part of my journey. My story.
