tl;dr: OP has an affair with his friend's wife. She has a baby and its probably OP's. I'll comment on the absurdity of some comments. Then in part 2 I share some rational analysis on the cost of paternity fraud
The thread: https://archive.is/BQ6js
Never say a word. You helped create a happy family. You got laid. Now shut up before you fuck it up.
Read this top comment and mull over it a little. Can you imagine a guy saying this? I can imagine a beta-cuck saying the first three sentences. But that last sentence "Now shut up before you fuck it up" really is overly aggressive isn't it. The whole phrase is basically a threat! I could imagine getting a note like this being slipped in my letterbox by somebody I had found was committing fraud. Sure enough you read into their comment history and the writer is a post-menopausal women. She has been around the block a few times covering up infidelities of other women no doubt.
I've seen this a few times in my life. Women will literally threaten you to cover up another cheating woman. Men basically never do this for other men. I envy the ingroup bias women have; it must be great.
Some wisdom from a guy who learnt the hard way: Its best to pretend you saw nothing - don't even say "i'm not sure what I saw but Ill keep my mouth shut, i promise" - this sometimes isn't enough and you can find a whole bunch of them working together trying to gaslight you. They start interferring with your relationships, spreading lies about you, trying to tarnish your name so that nobody wants to hear what you have to say or even see you. Just on the offchance that you might open your mouth about something you've seen.
If you are going to rat them out: just do it without them having any warning, and make sure you have 100% hard proof (otherwise you will be framed as a liar, a shit stirrer, and even if it turns out you were right you find that everyone has been influenced to hate you anyway), and try to do it anonymously. If you fuck up they will harm you in all sorts of ways you didn't know were possible!
OP you should definitely tell the guy the truth because if he finds out later, the outcome will be ten times worse.
This sensible guy came in and was disgusted by the comments. He got downvoted and received retarded replies like this one:
The guy wanted a kid, he has a kid, what's the harm?
Audacious. Lets jail this woman for 18 years and tell her You wanted free food and accommodation, you got free food and accommodation, whats the harm!
I think the woman in this knew exactly what she was doing. OP is a sperm donor and that was not an affair. She got what she wanted and her husband got what he wanted and now they have the family they wanted. The resulting child is loved and cared for. Everyone is a winner.
I'm actually just a bit sick of this all now, lets move to part 2 of the post:
Most men would rather be raped than be victims of paternity fraud
Surveys say so. I know that I am one of them. The costs are just so much higher. But women tend to control the conversation very well, and they naturally tie strong emotions to rape, and a hefty amount of cognitive dissonance to committing paternity fraud (as we've already seen above), so as feminism has gained a lot of power the debate got switcheroo'd.
Robin Hanson writes on the economics of cuckoldry vs rape in these 3 articles, and raises a whole bunch of good points. I will summarise them below.
Notes:
"Biologically, cuckoldry is a bigger reproductive harm than rape, so we should expect a similar intensity of inherited emotions about it."
Also there should be greater cost (legally) for committing paternity fraud. Historically it was ... stoning the woman to death. Then it got easier and easier. Now we have the total opposite in the legal system, where the government actively helps it happen e.g. prison time in France for men who paternity test their child.
Mothers can use paternity testing as evidence in court to win child support. Fathers cannot use paternity testing as evidence to deny child support (when child is older than 2, or if the man signed the birth certificate).
People will use you signing the birth certificate against you: "well, you signed the contract, so thats tough". It doesn't matter that you were cheated and it was another mans kid. However those same people will say "well this prenup agreement is clearly not fair to the woman" and throw it away in court.
If we as a society worry about the kid’s financial security being lost by telling the father he isn't his: why don’t we just tax everyone instead of just this one man that got tricked? (Well we already do have large welfare/benefits given to single mothers)...
Just reading the comments in those threads is eye-opening. Women go CRAZY when you talk about paternity testing. Every emotional argument is used no matter how stupid. The blog is about rationalism and economics but regular female posters give responses like 'Wow, just wow, you sexist pig'. There are tonnes of examples of women justifying it and downplaying it. It really is hard-wired into them.
