Slut shaming

As vulgar as the phrase is, slut shaming is the most proper word for this phenomena that has been a part of human culture for thousands of years. Why does it exist? Animals don't care about the sexual history of their mates, neither did primitive man. Most people here would agree that sluts are great as long as you don't stay with one. Because you don't want to raise another man's offspring. Because you don't want to spend your time and energy on her for sex when she gives it away easily to other men. As men we understand these reasons.

But how the hell did society teach young girls to value their chastity? In nature there is no such thing. Slut shaming is an entirely cultural concept, so how did it survive and spread to encompass the entire world? Because when chastity is valued it gives women the ability to influence her value in society. Women cannot compete with men in any way to prove their value, they cannot compare to men as workers, warriors, hunters, thinkers and leaders. In nature a woman's value is only dependent on her genes, while men have always needed to create their own value. Allowing women to have influence over their value by valuing their chastity is needed to create marriage as an institution and allow civilization.

If a society would have marriage without valuing chastity then a girl would be worthless to the parents and be put outside the door after birth, because there would be no reason to waste resources on raising the child when she had no value to be used as leverage when negotiating a marriage. Staying with a woman to help raising the children would only makes sense if the children are sons, since the father's input beyond the genetical input can make a difference and give the sons an advantage. This kind of society would quickly die as no girls would be allowed to live.

Here's where it gets a little more complicated. In a society that values female chastity, the woman's value will also reflect on her man. Either the father or the husband. What good is a man who cannot even control his daughter or his wife?

Human cultural traits follows the law of evolution just the same way as genes. A trait needs to bring benefit and it needs to propagate itself to survive. Slut shaming brings benefits to men in that it makes it worth staying and raising their children, thus giving the possibility to pass knowledge to sons and make them more successful. Slut shaming is what allowed marriage as an institution. And this institution is vastly more beneficial for women than the natural state.

Slut shaming is one of the most unnatural behavior that mankind has embraced, but it is truly a pillar of society.
