[Attention]: As anything about race and ethnicity is a very charged topic, I'll try to phrase the topic background with a certain care and I advise anyone in the comments to do so as well.
Stereotypes and biases ideally should't be more important than an individual, but are real nonetheless.

  • After stumbling upon some stats and trends, it turns out, atleast to a degree, that
women (of each ethnicity) tend to rate black males' more attractive than whites', with asians at last,
  • While with men's ratings (of each ethnicity) on women the opposite seems to be the case, asians at first place, then white women, with blacks at last.

(As someone who is not clearly identified within any of these categories, I'm neither offended but rather curious on exploring the landscape of social biases a little more. GenZ here btw.)

Comparing this to the social sphere of interracial-dating one can meet several stereotypes or biases.
In urban western europe, the mainstream-trend of bias seems to move in these directions:

  • Dating among your ethnic group has gotten rather boring (unless you're in traditionalist circles).
  • Dating a black man as a white woman is usually tied to the social stereotype of tolerance (unless you're in traditionalist circles), while it has some catch of the "exotic" to it, rather than 'fetishizaiton'.
  • Dating asian woman as a non-asian native male is usually tied to a social stereotype which is seen rather negative outside of its bubble (weeb-culture), if not even within it. It's seen as 'fetishization'.
  • Asian men are viewed as less masculine, due to stereotypes. Less 'exotic' vibe, unless standing out of the "less-masculine-stereotype".

Of course this is a very shallow anecdotally-perceived generalization (just like our shallow choice and halo-effect when using dating-apps) and it would rather show on a large scale, but is there more to it?

It seems the bias keeps black women, asian men and white men among their own ethnic bubble, while asian women, white women and black men's bias shifts them rather into dating outside.
Are there any more interesting biases, you stumbled upon?
