How do you deal with these guys? These are the kind of guys who go hunting and brag about it just to seem manly. An authentic masculine man would not arrogantly brag about his latest hunts. In fact you might never know he hunted. The other type of superficial masculinity you see a lot of sports worship. Witness the awesome power of "real men" as they throw tantrums or almost cry because their football team lost. They never accomplished anything in their lives so they attempt to fill that gap by living through sports athletes. But do you really think a 21yo rich kid who's great at shooting a ball into a net should be looked up to? Admired for his skill, sure, but praised as a "role model to the community?". Fuck no.

I know a guy who's never been laid (he's 25), extremely cold, and hits all the classic "wannabe masculine" cliches. He's in to tacticool gear (Wearing camo plate carriers and helmets makes him feel tough) and has recently taken up hunting as well as being heavily into guns. I believe there is a difference between being passionate about a hobby (i.e. guns) and using it as a way to prove your manliness to fill some sort of lacking within oneself.

This superficial idea of what masculinity is all about seems to be everywhere. It's a disease.
