The best sport in the world for self defense is the 100 m hurdles. In any self defense situation, you have to defend against the perpetrator but also against the State which may judge your actions. That said, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Look like a stud and people will treat you like one. Even if you don't care for fighting, from personal experience, bring "guns" to a knife fight and first blood is less likely to be drawn. Aside from finances and severe developmental deformities/injuries there's literally no good reason to avoid lifting.

Berkeley / Oakland has a long history of political violence.

I grew up in the Oakland Hills and went to UC Berkeley.

Haven't had the need to resort to physical violence in 16 years. Yet I visited and worked in some pretty gnarely places. But then again, if I saw a riot I'd take a detour.

While it's certainly good to be able to defend yourself, risk awareness, politeness and not drinking to the point of losing self-control is enough 99.9% of the time.

I'm 55 and a regular gym goer. My gym thing is 1.5 to 2 hours on the rower, and an hour-and-a half on the treadmill on alternate days with the heavy-hands (2 15lb dumbbells). I intersperse diverse weight lifting and push-ups.

But younger folks sometimes have a hard time grasping just how difficult it is to stick to a gym schedule. I work in an office, and on the salary clock, the boss always thinks that gym time is optional -- like you can do that any other time than what you've got scheduled. This goes for family members also. Between this and the non-stop food commercials I watched in the old days, it's little wonder that many men can double as sumo wrestlers. I've even had bad performance reviews on account of choozing going to the gym rather than logging into the office from home. I've even changed jobs to keep the gym going, so I salute all those who become the regulars of any gym. I'm a regular.

It's a rare man that can keep it up over the long haul. The only big difference between now and the 90s, when I started, is that there's far fewer rewards to office work. But the real truth is that the gym doesn't become welded into your life until it becomes part of your religion. Just like you wouldn't miss bathing or brushing your teeth, so should your devotion to the gym be of the same magnitude. Like I tell my folks, unless somebody's dead or in the hospital, I'm going to the gym.

Lol. I take it "bloopies" are blue pillers? That's fucking lovely. Change is a slow progression, especially physical transformation. I assume you're probably right about the majority of regular visitors to the sub. Hell, many of our subscribers are probably bloopies (feels better each time) keeping tabs on us. But for the average visitor here looking to learn, embrace reality and make a change in their lives, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume in time they'll come around. Personally I'm going for more of a Bruce Lee level of fitness/physique than Mike Tyson. I should find a boxing gym though. As many fights as I've been in, I could still definitely use some technique.

I'm about a month into taking boxing classes and much like first swallowing the redpill I am learning a ton about myself . The thing that struck me the most was how uncomfortable I was with hitting someone else . Mind you I'm in a boxing class, mind you I am practicing punching techniques and yet somehow those first few classes my brain and my aversion to hitting another human being struggled.

Thankfully one of my classmates made a little gesture to hit him in the head , just to let my gloves touch the center of his forehead . I did that twice and then I understood It's not the act of punching that's dangerous it's the intention behind the punch .

Practicing technique with a partner , wailing on a punching bag, and protecting yourself from an attacker are all different situations that may call for similar actions and movements powered by different intentions . It was just one more moment of stepping past the mental hurdle that physical aggression against another living thing was "bad". There is a time for everything there is a time to tap your training partner softly with your glove, there is a time to punch somebody hard enough that he doesn't come back, and as you embrace learning to defend yourself you equip yourself with the power to both explode and restrain yourself based on the situation .

I think someone should avoid taking sides in politics. Whoever agrees 100% to what a particular party or man says has no critical thinking. Personally, I preffered Trump over Hillary but that doesn't mean that I agree to everything that Trump does.

There exists an ongoing misunderstanding about who did what at this event, but to be clear: The Berkeley students protesting the Milo speech are NOT the same people that rioted and destroyed property. They are universally condemning the rioters and their tactics. Show us one single Milo protestor who was involved in or supports the violence!

One man who works for the university, but is not a student nor participant in the Milo protest, was identified as an attacker during the melee. The student protestors have made it clear that not only are they against the violence that erupted, their protest was not intended to deny Milo the right to speak.

Berkeley is the birthplace of the Free Speech movement in the 1960s, the people there have a strong hippie nonviolent ethos and a passion for being outspoken about their beliefs and values. Misrepresenting them as violent is a covert attack on free speech itself; follow the rabbit hole for yourself and ponder what masters would manipulate your opinion and threaten your rights in this underhanded manner? The actual rioters were a Black Bloc, a group of violent pseudo-anarchists from off-campus who have a long history of hijacking peaceful protests.

Understanding this correctly is important, for to wrongly blame the Milo protestors for the violence and claiming this as an example of "the Left attempting to shut down speech they disagree with" when in fact they are the very progenitors and most dutiful practitioners of the modern Free Speech Movement amounts to participating in some meta-campaign attacking and discrediting the idea of Free Speech itself. This is an example of why I always say Left-Right thinking divides potential allies and serves Blue Pill masters, not ourselves.
