I see your point and it is valid unto itself.
What you have completely sidestepped is the issue of trust and integrity. If you say you're monogamous and then cheat, that's a breach of trust. No matter the details, broken trust is universally painful and has a negative impact on interpersonal relationships.
So what you're saying doesn't change much. Either you're a man who is honest with his women or you aren't. If you're the latter kind, this will just make it easier for you. If you're the former, it doesn't matter because it's not the reason you don't cheat.

If you say you're monogamous and then cheat, that's a breach of trust.
Only because women have a stranglehold on the definition of monogamy, and they've chosen to define it in a way that favors them. They've rigged the game, so to speak. The only way to win is not to play.
OP is right: A woman with beta orbiters = a man with plates. The problem here isn't cheating, it's the fact that natural male behavior has been labeled as cheating to control men. And the equivalent female behavior is not only acceptable, it's commonplace. Do you know any woman in a LTR who doesn't have beta orbiters? She'd have to be a fugly beast or never leave the house.
Edit: I probably should've said "exclusivity" instead of monogamy, since the latter is a technical term and never comes up in real life relationship conversations. When a woman promises you exclusivity, that should mean no orbiters. But since women get to have their cake and eat it too, they get your commitment and as many friend-zoned betas as they want.

Do you know any woman in a LTR who doesn't have beta orbiters?
come to think of it.... none. Out of all my circle of female acquaintances including the girl I'm with now, All seem to have at least 1 beta orbiter.
This person likes every post on their facebook, messages them "whats ups", likes every pic (except the ones with me in them). My friends even have that one guy that hangs around here and there.
the girls don't seem to even really take notice 'oh he's just a friend' but We know what's really up.
[–]Simon_the_Neckbeard11 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
It's almost impossible for a girl to not collect orbiters. If she works in an office environment and isn't absolutely hideous, she's guaranteed to have at least a few orbiters at work.
Big firms with lots of shitty clerical jobs (think Office Space) are FILLED with desperate beta dudes who would jump on a grenade for any chick that gives them the slightest hint of attention.

Only because women have a stranglehold on the definition of monogamy, and they've chosen to define it in a way that favors them.
Not really. They can try to redefine it all they like but when two people make an agreement, it's only unclear if they are themselves unclear. I have a 100% solid, clearly defined idea of monogamy. If and when I get into an LTR, I will hand this definition to the woman involved and if she breaches it, then she has cheated. As a result, she is permanently cut out of my life. I would expect her to do the same with me also.
If she cheated and came back at me with "Well according to the dictionary..." my exact response would be "I don't give a fuck about the dictionary. My definition is the only relevant definition, and it says you're out. End of."
OP is right: A woman with beta orbiters = a man with plates.
In drawing that similarity, yes. And that is why I will include orbiters in my definition of monogamy - if she knows that a man is orbiting, she has to tell me. If I find out she's got one, then it's entirely up to me to judge whether or not she could tell he was thirsty for her.
If I think she did, that's the end of the LTR. Each couple creates arbitrary definitions and they live by them.
Edit: I just realise that I agree with OP, if his driving point is that we ought to expand our definitions of cheating to include orbiters.
[–]Reworking0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Would you be willing to share your definition of monogamy?

[–]Endorsed ContributorScholarInRed5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link
Because then it's not monogamy, it's just spinning plates. Or worse, the fabled 'open relationship'.
[–]1whatsazipper3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You can have asymmetric monogamy; i.e. accept commitment from women, your main, then also have some plates. Much harder to pull off - minimum requirement is a default high SMV. It is what it is.
At a minimum you should have women who are active backups, anyway. A woman never takes herself off the market in the modern day, so a man should never relinquish his required strategy of pursuit either.
The 'open relationship' is trash because it's a beta faggot letting his woman get railed like the slut she is.
I like your idea of monogamy but it seems less practical to me and my own experiences have driven me to more asymmetric arrangements. I too have no trouble dropping women but at the same time I don't care to let them entirely monopolize my sexuality. I bring more to the table than that.
After a decade of serial monogamy, I don't think the standard contract or boundaries are all they're cracked up to be - it asks for too little from women and too much from men.
[–]MagneticJohnson6 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
A woman never takes herself off the market in the modern day, so a man should never relinquish his required strategy of pursuit either.
Exactly, that's one of the main points of my post. Most women don't take themselves completely off the market. That's what makes it so skewed towards women.
A man got to be a fucking pioneer and make up his own rules for relationships.
[–]Simon_the_Neckbeard 2 points2 points2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Because then it's not monogamy
Well, duh. It's not monogamy yet. That's the point...
Why not rewrite the relationship handbook so women are still allowed to have orbiters but men are allowed to have plates in return? I believe that was essentially OP's point -- an "exclusive" relationship is only exclusive for the man in today's society. Women who have orbiters aren't technically exclusive since that's the equivalent of a guy having fuck buddies.
The problem is that everyone else hasn't realized that yet.
[–]MagneticJohnson4 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Yes, that sums it up perfectly. If she's cheating emotionally, you should cheat physically.

I've recently been thinking about what will happen after the decline, when society realises how much it has fucked up all of its children.
I think, at that point, we might be able to do just that. A reversion to a time when to have a harem was honourable, even admirable.
But as for right now, we can't rewrite the relationship handbook because we don't have the pen. However, each man writes his own handbook which the women he meets must use; nothing stopping you from using it yourself.

Honestly I find women without orbiters annoying and clingy. Mine does not really have them anymore, partly because being around me has turned her into a stuck up bitch in other peoples opinion. That does me proud because it means my alpha game is tight even in an LTR and I have shared just enough RP knowledge with her to let her see through and shoot down beta attempts at game.
However I have begun to attempt to encourage some orbiters because without them it only leaves me for her to try and "talk to about my day.". And who has time to listen to that crap.
[–]MagneticJohnson 2 points2 points2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Honestly I find women without orbiters annoying and clingy.
Just like women find guys without options annoying and clingy. Problem is, we can't really have "options" without using the options (we can't be in abundance without cheating). So it's a very tricky situation. But my conclusion is if she's allowed to have orbiters, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you're not having plates.
[–]Ifuckinglovepron0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link
Good point.
The only thing is there is no allowed. I don't like that mntality. She can do whatever she wants, if it is not what I want her to do, she may go. Simple.

Agree fully, and my motto is "it's not cheating if it's not breaking the rules." In my uber-liberal city, there is no initial assumption of monogamy so the key is never making it a rule.
I find it pretty easy to trickle truth them into acceptance that you're seeing others. I never say I'm seeing only them or that I'm seeing others explicitly, and the better I fuck them the more they resign themselves to the 'fact' that there are others. Even if it's not true, I let their hamster go with it because I could be at any time.
Could be a little sneaky there. I've also used things like 'even if I'm not, I might' which kinda stirs in some dread. I think that's a weaker response and could trigger ASD and don't plan to use it again, but it worked when I used it. Silence worked last time, her hamster broke the silence with a new topic and she tacitly accepted that there were others.
As for their end, I never lay anything down. I can sense pretty well when they're pulling away and let them spin themselves down. And am always safe.
In the frame of "cheating is breaking rules" I think one can operate pretty well; probably won't work in Iowa.

If OP's point is valid as you say, breech of trust is oddly asymmetric.
A man is almost always expected to avoid a specific behavior (sex with someone else) in order to keep up the trust. A woman is not generally expected to avoid the supposedly equivalent behavior (giving attention to beta orbiters), and engaging in it seems not to constitute the breech of trust for most people.
[–]Endorsed ContributorScholarInRed1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men are held to higher standards than women. There is no 'Men are Wonderful' effect.
A woman is not generally expected to avoid the supposedly equivalent behavior (giving attention to beta orbiters), and engaging in it seems not to constitute the breech of trust for most people.
Yes, but that's due to the feminine imperative. 100 years ago, a neighbour frequently having conversations with your wife was something you would put a stop to, and the whole street would talk about it.
Another symptom of modern feminised society.
[–]1whatsazipper7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are relationship lawyers. They ensure that you play into their relationship word games.
While you are technically right, they play the game without any real integrity themselves, and count on us as men not to violate the circumstances we've agreed to, even if it sabotages our sexual strategy at zero cost to theirs.
[–]MagneticJohnson 1 points1 points1 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I guess my post was just about clarifying a few things. It's not about whether it's right to cheat or not.
People have a very warped view on what's right or wrong in a relationship. I'd say it's just as bad if the girl (in a ltr) has a bunch of orbiters on her Facebook/Instagram, than if the guy has a one night stand. But in the modern world, she's strange if she's not on instagram. So she can always be a few clicks on her phone away from a branch swing. And that's completely ok.
So my point is, some of the things that it's completely ok for a girl to do in a relationships, are actually not that ok. Even if it "breached the trust" I'd have no qualms about cheating on a chick who spends hours on social media every day. Cheating isn't that bad in comparison imo.
Trust is important, but balance is more important. I see young men entering relationships hearing that it's completely fine that their girlfriend is going clubbing ("look dude, you can go clubbing to"). I hear about guys entering "poly" relationships under the perfect logic that "they both can sleep with other people yay!". And all of those little things are fucking young men in the ass every single day.
"Clubbing/getting drunk while in a relationship is ok", "Posting beach pics on social media is ok", "women cheating is no worse than men cheating" are all basically established truths now. And they all have one thing in common: they favor women and they favor branch swinging. She's never completely off the market.
So not saying men should cheat, but I see a lot of girls' behavior as worse than if their guy cheated. If they are going to be that close to a branch swing, you owe them neither trust or fidelity. She can have that when she's worthy.
[–]Endorsed ContributorScholarInRed5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link
Dude, I absolutely get your point. I know you are not commenting either way on the morality of cheating. Nor am I.
What I am saying is that the breach of trust should be a dealbreaker to any self-respecting human, man or woman. If you respect yourself, you cut a cheater out of your life permanently. End of. Zero negotiation.
It's just that simple. Bearing this in mind, questions of degree really don't come into the decision making process. Your point is utterly valid but only of academic interest; it doesn't affect any decision. At least not from my perspective.
[–]Redrocketz 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you, but a guy needs to set his own boundries. If your girl likes to go clubbing and get shitfaced all the time, then post half naked selfies for her orbiters to drool over, then maybe you've got the wrong girl. The best way to snuff this behavior out is to decide it's undesirable and picka different girl. Social darwinism, in a way, if i am applying that concept correctly....
Now if only males as a collective gender would stop tripping over themselves everytime a bitch shows her tits on instagram...

Trust and integrity? And you are TRP endorsed?
What next, gonna save M'lady? Trust and integrity is the product of lack of options. Sex and commitment is a business transaction. And there only needs to be a better deal for the "trust and integrity" to be null and void.
I have read your other comments and you are failing to factor in that women have brains and are out to get the best deal possible. Same as men. For you to think that women are not shopping around like men then you are not only naive but also stupid.
I guarantee you that if me and my boys were around your LTR that you think is a "trustful and of high integrity", she would fuck one of us given the chance. Why? Because she can.

Respond to my points with all the venom, scorn and profanity you want. Get as angry with me as you want. But I draw the line at ad hominems and so do the mods. To attack a man in such a way is a bitch behaviour. If we were face to face right now, I'd ask you to step outside. You're very probably bigger than me, you know. But I don't fucking care. You overstepped the line and a man with integrity does his utmost to punish that. If you want an ounce of respect on here, cut that childish shit out. It speaks of insecurity to attack the man, when his points are what you disagree with.
I am currently writing a post about the anger phase. You would do well to read it.
You misunderstand. I'll demand it of her. If she fails, she's gone. I said absolutely nothing about expecting her to be able to keep it. It's simply unfair not to clearly lay down the rules and then let her own decisions decide her fate.

I'm not angry at women, I'm angry at men like you telling other men how to fail. You still believe in this fantasy that women are loyal. Hell, they even wrote a song that says "These hoes aint loyal". For you to expect a woman to only be with you is BS. She is only yours right then. When she leaves, so does your relationship. I can't tell you how many women I have fucked with boyfriends "that trust them".
You overstepped the line and a man with integrity does his utmost to punish that.
Don your white armour and defend your honour. Don't forget your Fedora.
Your advice is setting men up for failure and will cause their hearts to be broken. And I have been there before. I do not want any other man to feel what I have been through. You are lucky to have people like me to call you out on BS. "Better to have loved and lost is better than to not love at all" is a bullshit mangina outlook who has never gotten laid.

You don't understand what an 'ad-hominem' is. See the bolded section in my last reply. That is an ad-hominem that you leveled at me. That is bitch behaviour, and it is a personal attack. I can handle nasty words on a computer screen, but what's depressing is that men have gone from respecting one another by default to this shit.

Yeah, I got to agree with you. Why the hell is a trp endorsed bringing up trust and integrity...? Two words we learn as soon as we enter this place are things men place too much value in much in regards to relationships.
Not saying your girl shouldn't trust you, but attraction and power always comes first.
[–]TheLife_1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
Because having integrity in ourselves is what TRP is about. Because we are here to learn that no woman is inherently trustworthy and it takes a lot of effort (passing shit tests, dread game, raising our own SMV, etc.) to make them so...to a degree. Perhaps to enough of a degree to LTR.
If you think we throw personal integrity out the window here, you need to get out and hit up PUA or seddit. We're not about the fake game.
[–]MagneticJohnson 3 points3 points3 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
No, I agree, trust is important for a good relationship (imo), but this thread was not the place to bring it up.
No where am I endorsing cheating (or being against it for that matter). All I'm pointing out is that in many relationships I see, girls do the equivalent thing of a man having plates (orbiters). And if that's the reality of your relationship, I'd say treat her like a plate until she truly commits to you. I'm not at all saying you should be a sneaky fuck towards your wife lol. Be good to a woman who deserves it. (But even then, you might have to play games every now and then to keep her on her toes.)

Your point is great, and it demonstrates a lot of points about the value of the sexes and the reasoning behind the transaction of relationships and sex. That just leaves not much to talk about without it becoming a circle-jerk.
This point being made is a good expansion on your own point, as its the next level above the basal transaction and makes for a more dichotomous discussion with more room for disagreement and an evolution of viewpoints. I know a lot of people who were here before I left for a while would disagree with what I said.

Well said. Men and women's idea of trust and integrity are two different things. That is preach here over and over. Women do not honour trust, honour, integrity like men. Those are core MAN values. Women are serial monogamists. That means as long as the guy motivates her enough, the woman won't feel any special need to fuck any other Chad. Remember that for women, the amount of lays or the notch count are not important as they have it guaranteed already, plus it's not a direct part of their sexual strategy.
Men are polygamous. No matter how good things are with his current LTR, he always needs to fuck other women and he would do it without any problems. For a man to fuck is an end in itself and the feelings he has for his partner will be the same before and after fucking a FB on the side. I repeat: a man needs a good amount of sex and sexual variety. Always.
On this basis we see how events unfold in a standard LTR.
The basic idea is that for women what really matters is not that the "relationship" remains monogamous, but that he does. Why? Control.
For a woman is going to be much easier to stay monogamous than for a man. Actually she does not make any effort, he is the only one making a real effort not fuck other people. It is he who suffers for the lack of variety.
And most important: she becomes the only way for him to get sex. Inevitably, she'll use this to her advantage. How? Rationing sex to make it a currency. If she is the only one who can fuck him, she inevitably will put him in a state of continuous scarcity. He'll never get not even half of the sex he would want, so that every decent lay is almost like a "reward" instead of what it should be: normal.
Man loses quantity and variety, just what he needs the most.
She also fucks him and only him? Yes, but remember that for a woman is much easier as quantity and variety are not a big deal for them, they don't care nowhere as much.
It is "assumed" that she can't cheat too but beware: they are serial monogamists. That means as soon as her boyfriend does not motivate her enough, she'll automatically search for the next, she will start fucking him and do the usual branch swinging when ready. All of this with no remorse.
The guy has not fucked anyone but her, he increasingly had less sex and has remained faithful ... for nothing.
That is the problem with sexual monogamy: it only benefits women. And of course this system is the socially accepted way. All promiscuous behavior by him is wrong and he has to "grow up" but if she does the same then she's empowered and "she needed that".
They know very well that if the let the guy fuck other women they'll have much less control and influence over him. She does not want to fuck enough? Okay, he has other choices. She does not do A or B in bed? Okay, Jessy and Marion do. She wants him to do or not to dos this or that? She can not give more or less sex, more or less quality to him as a reward or punishment.
The man would gain a lot of power, control and ability to go drama free.
The problem? You need to be very alpha to be "allowed" to fuck other women on the side.

This happened recently to a friend of mine. His best friend was in need of a place to stay for a while so my friend let him move in with him and his gf. You need to be very alpha to be "allowed" to fuck other women on the side.
Someone who's that alpha would not need to be "allowed." He would do it, and if his main girl didn't like it, he'd kick her out and find another. She'd come crawling back and he might spin her up as a plate, but he's already got plenty of pussy elsewhere and maybe a new main girl.

When we got back together, I eventually cheated on her. But the thing that was interesting about it wasn't that she was even that mad that I slept with another girl, it was the fact I was giving the girl I slept with emotional attention.

This is why when a guy hooks up with another woman, his girl will throw a fit calling her a slut, whore, hussy, cheap tramp, etc. (it's amazing how the concept of slut shaming goes out the window when a girl feels threatened). This is wishful thinking on her part because she doesn't want to believe that the affair would take place with a quality woman. She's already gone into a state of denial. She would be far more emotionally devastated to find out the affair took place with a woman of equal or greater value to herself.
[–]Pkbeefatude 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ideally nobody would cheat.
That said women cheating IS worse but that's some heavy red pill talk most people wont engage in.
Women would rather be in an alpha's harem than be stuck with a loyal beta
we all know that is true, pre-selection, "players" being attractive to multiple women...is attractive to women.
Women as we know from branch swinging, alpa widowing, tingles and all the other shit talked about here will only usually sleep with you if she perceives (even in that moment) as the best choice.
Guys more or less will sleep with anything that gets thrown out them.
obviously there are exceptions because people have brains but we are generalizing here.
A girl cheats for whatever reason because for that night, for that make-out on the dance floor for that 5 minutes in the backseat the other guy is BETTER in her mind.
Most times when guys cheat they wouldn't consider the mistress better than his LTR, wife whatever. Its just some slut not worthy of remembering.
That's why its objectively worse.
once again, in a perfect world we would all be loyal.
[–]greenblueyoyo 5 points5 points5 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I've cheated on the majority of my girlfriends, it's an easy/hilarious way to get them to leave and when your sidegirl feels like the forbidden fruit it results in some of the greatest sex I've ever had. 75% of the time if your ex witnesses it they will act mad and leave but will hate-fuck you the next day (it's almost as if they can't control their emotions and act on them regardless).
In nature, alpha males have multiple partners, and multiple children because they don't have to bear a child, but a girl can only have one sexual partner in nature, anything more is a result of the feminism movement and women trying to be 'equal' to men (yet they can't fucking realize our brains work in different ways, that our bodies serve different purposes).
Look at it this way, a woman's body is designed to be fucked, a soft plump ass for railing/grabbing/smacking, tits to play with and give visual stimulation to males, and a vagina to get your dick wet and when you fuck them THEY get pregnant and you pass your alpha genes on and you move on to the next girl. Monogamy and marriage are social contracts DESIGNED to take the innate power of the male and give it to the female. A female who cheats is a skank, a slut, and she isn't worth your time.

[–]elcarlosmiguel2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
milito you won the prize for the most passive agressive annoying comment i have ever seen. read what he said again (since you didn't understand clearly) and then if you don't agree explain why
he is not saying that a man can cheat and a woman don't. he is saying that any guy should breakup with a girl that cheats. because they aren't worth it.
In his case he thinks that Men can cheat. But for him a man cheating is clearly different than a woman doing the same. did you even read the main post that he is commenting?
[–]Milito35150 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yes, and I don't agree. Both woman and men have reasons to cheat. Some people here is the same shit as feminists.
Feminits: "If a woman cheats it's ok, she's exploring her sexuality".
Some people in TRP: "If a woman cheats she's a whore, but when a men does it... it isn't that bad, u know".
Don't be so blind, people. Read the sidebar again, if u need it.

Ok let me explain my point of view.
its not about being bad.
If a girl cheats on a men, it means she doesn't respect you anymore.
A girl cheating on you is a symptom, if she was in a fullfiling relationship she wouldn't feel the need to cheat. Girls dont want to have sex with a lot of guys they rather be with a really good one.
while for us men we cant not think about having sex with other girls its in our dna.
what i mean is if a girl cheats it means you wont have a relationship anymore because it means something different, it means she doesn't want you. while a men can have sex with other girls and still keep liking the same girl.
I am not discussing values. because i would never cheat on a girl that i commit to. But exactly because of that is why i would rather not have serious relationships, therefore i rather have "plates" or explictly tell girls i am not exlusive.
But that is for me this guy doesn't have the same values as me and so what ?
the only thing that annoyed me is that you still seem like you are trying to find who is the most moraly correct. You are not better than anyone just because you dont cheat on girls. I think your values should be important to you regardless what other people believe.

Another example that might help to understand is if my wife/ltr cheated on me with another women. I would feel less threatened, less jealous and maybe even able to move past. Another woman is less of a threat and less emasculating than another man.

You're wrong. If my boyfriend were to cheat and impregnate someone, I would be required to cut my child's resources in half for some whore's bastard. The quality of my child's life would be ruined. You're having to make sure your bastards aren't starving.
A cheating woman can get an abortion. Short of throwing his side hole down a flight of stairs, a cheated woman wouldn't have the same option.
You make some valid, but hypothetical points. However, they are not representative of the real world. A man knocking up the side chick? I'm sure it happens, but that's incredibly rare. Otoh, men unknowingly raise another man's child all the time. So basically, the very opposite of what you're saying is what actually happens in the real world.
Various laws aside, I'm strictly speaking about the emotional hurt men and women feel from the various situations. We dislike physical cheating the most, women dislike emotional cheating the most. We are somewhat ok with emotional cheating, while girls are more ok with physical cheating than we are. But if you're saying "I dislike both equally", you're entitled to that, but that means your boyfriend should be entitled to the same thing. Most girls would faint if their bf "kept in touch" with as many hoes as they have betas on instagram/facebook.
Girls want even playing fields as far as physical cheating goes, but want special treatment in the emotional cheating department.

A cheating woman can get an abortion.
just like the "someone" your boyfriend cheated you with...
do you see why we think women are dumb now ? think before you open your mouth .

LOL you say that like it's much of a likelihood. If she got pregnant, buddy, she wanted to get pregnant.

Cheating hurts and damages the other person. Period.
If a guy cheats on his girl with some skank, his assets are not threatened. If he starts an affair with a cute girl, who demands his time and effort, his assets are threatened.

Sexual strategy is amoral, it says it on the sidebar.
[–]scarletspider30 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Solid analogy. Not entirely accurate because some random slut is a threat to his (and by de facto her) assets if he knocks her up (or she sperm jacks him) through child support.

Why even try and rationalize it? If you want to cheat then just cheat. No need to do mental gymnastics about it

It's useful to understand the "why" for tactical reasons.

the more accurate view.. where you use morals.
No need for those here

Side note: YEars ago, I was stringing cable in a cubicle environment unbeknownst to the women on the other side of the wall. The women were discussing the affair one other woman's husband had had.
I was fascinated to discover that, while he was considered a douche for cheating, what REALLY pissed them off was that he was indiscreet. There were FAR less concerned that he's been putting his pen in someone else's inkwell than they were that the wife had been humiliated in the process. This was true by a LARGE margin.

A woman told me they pretty much expect their man to cheat once in a while, but they don't mind as long as the man is discreet about it.

It may be unrelated, but your post gave me an epiphany: I understand the paradox now.
The ultimate fantasy: Men want a loyal girlfriend that gives up her sex (her most valuable asset) to him and him exclusively, always, no matter what. The ultimate fantasy: women want a boyfriend that gives up his time/attention/commitment (his most valuable asset) to her exclsuively, always no matter what.
The thing is that this fantasy is a paradox. A man that gives too much commitment will be a turnoff, just as a woman that gives too much sex will be a turnoff.

Yeah, there's always a game being played to a certain degree. In some relationships there's a lot of games, in others there's little (but it's alway some).
But what I see, is that women's games are much more accepted than men's. And it's games we often don't even think of as games, (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, or being social in general).
Say a normal, average man is in a relationship with a normal, average girl (both 7's). They're both monogamous, but they're both social and on social media. In general, her sexual strategy is more favored in that scenario. He won't seduce someone, but she might be in a situation where she's seduced.

Cheating in a relationship is bad regardless if you're a man or a woman.
There are no real explanations.
[–]1whatsazipper0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's quite different for the sexes, though. If your woman cheats on you, your relationship is toast. Yet it's not uncommon to see women who stick with men who cheat on them.
While I'm not advocating anyone cheat, we still must recognize there's something fundamentally different going on. Related is how preselection with other women improves your chances with women, but a woman being actively desired by other men only causes a man problems, not increased interest.
Depends. I would never judge a man who cheats on a girl with a number count of 30+. (Yes, even if he got in a committed relationship with her.)
Also, some relationships need that amount of dread to get back to the honeymoon days. The man having an affair is the best cure for a dead bedroom.

I'm suspicious of men that cheat. If they cheat on someone who they're supposed to care about, then their loyalty to you means nothing.
[–]MadChestHairYuKnight3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Anyone who cheats is not a person I'd be friends with. No morals, and can't trust them.
[–]gecq533 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I man who was going to cheat shouldn't be in a relationship with a woman regardless.

The reason for this comes back to what we’re after in relationships. Guys want monopoly on her pussy and her ovaries. Girls want monopoly on his assets and security.
I mostly agree with your assessment. One issue I'd like to underline, though, is that men don't exactly want "monopoly on her pussy and her ovaries."
Men basically want regular access to pussy, not necessarily exclusive access. Of course, men nowadays (and in the past 10000 years or so) want exclusivity (fidelity), but that's only because women have brought about their stranglehold on sex. The majority of men are required to go through a heap of loops, and to provide, in order to get sex. Since they pay dearly for it, it is only normal that they get mad if they find out she gives it away for free.
In a society where "yes" would be the default answer, instead of "no", men would not give much credit to exlusivity. And (some) anthropologists do insist that for humans, (like for bonobo chimps), "yes" is the default nature's setting.
