I have made it clear to my wife that I wanted no part in any animals. She grew more and more excited as friends got dogs that she wanted one too. I will admit she took it upon herself to find a vet, dogwalking services, someone to come to the house, obedience school, etc.
She proved to me she was on top of it so I told her it's clear she was taking ownership and stepping up, it's fine to get, but be very clear: this is your dog, I will not be involved with it.

Now, the dog is here, and sure enough, she is trying to get me involved, and is pissy when I refuse to take it to shit or piss.

How would you deal with this? I see this as the beginning of a dangerous slippery slope where I take over the dog. I have no connection to this animal, nor do I care for pets. I have no interest in forming a bond or connection to it.

I regret not forcefully stopping this, but I do want to develop a captain/first mate, and have had much success in that regard. She took responsibility during all the preparation, research, coordinating, arranging the pickup, that I was proud of her initiative and thus granted my conditional allowance (under the premise that again, this is her dog, not mine, and I will not be involved).

The right thing I think is to send the dog back, but that would breed resentment which I do not want. Also, while I have no connection to the animal, I do see the cruelty of sending back an animal so soon.

She also called me a baby for not getting involved the dog, but I see this as her lashing out to goad me into dogcare. I removed myself from the situation and thus I feel the first fight over the fucking animal brewing.
