In my case it didn't work. Things might get better in the new beginning, but gradually start to go back to the way they were before the break up.

Additionally, this question reminded me of something from NMMNG (chapter 7): "Finally, Nice Guys have difficulty getting the love they want because they spend too much time trying to make bad relationships work. [...] I often joke that, on average, it takes Nice Guys about nine attempts to end a relationship".

You can't ever relive a party or a relationship. Yeah she may have been your favorite LTR ever, but she's an ex for a reason. So plate her, if you can keep the oneitis away, as it's much easier to escalate emotionally. Also beware of the sunk cost fallacy, as it's easy to think "we had so much history". The past is gone, it holds no value on going forward.

The other side is that it's ok to celebrate past relationships. Yeah they were awesome. I've got a lot of ex-girlfriends, all lovely exciting women in their own regard, but they are in the past. They are part of who I became so that's cool.

My opinion based on my personal experience is that it is a classic rematch with someone that has clearly shown they did not care that much about you; and, there is a high possibility of physical injury or death. Just saying, be careful.

The answer is Yes - I am sure there are those out there who ended up having positive relationships with their Ex's. However, everyone's circumstance is different: Why did you break up in the first place? What kind of baggage is there? Is there any resentment towards eachother? Why do you want to get back together? What do you expect will happen if you do get back together?

You answered your own questions:

So why are you asking us? You seem to have it figured out. Why "waste your time" with this girl if you are a high value man?

I just dont think its realistically going to be a positive experience doing it again, even if i make her work super hard for it.

If you don't think it will be a positive experience, then why go through with it? Focus on things/people/activities that will be positive for you.
