Since taking the RP a year ago, it's been 2 steps forward, 1 step back, but in general, upwards and onwards. I am gaining momentum in my life in awesome ways. I am happy and improving as a man.

My wife is 4 months pregnant. She has become more and more submissive as I've become more and more dominant. This is good in some ways, not so good in others.

I found out last night that she missed the window to have the nuchal transparency test. Then tonight, when she went to the doc, she "forgot" to ask him to do an ultrasound so we could know the sex, which we had agreed upon before her appointment.

These are the 2 latest examples of her dropping the ball, being so passive as to not get done what needs to get done. When in a situation where she needs information or a service, she very rarely speaks up or asks the questions that get her what she needs or wants. Basically, her strategy is just to remain quiet and hope for the best. She's never struck me as very intelligent, and maybe I just need to own that she never will be. (Doh!)

As a Captain, I'm not in any way willing to kick her off the ship. Because she's pregnant and because we already have a son. I can see that being possible when our 2nd is a year old, but not now.

How do you suggest I handle this failure to be responsible? She basically has a laissez-faire attitude towards just about everything. Which is great sometimes, but many times it means she doesn't take actions that can reduce overall risk or that can improve the quality of our lives.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to lead her towards a more autonomous, dependable style of interacting with the world so that I can really trust that she'll be able to handle certain situations well. But I don't really know how to do that.

What's your opinion?
