These movies make that lifestyle look glamorous that's all. In reality there's no glamour in that life. Sure banging hookers and doing cocaine will be fun initially for maybe a few months and then your brain gets adjusted to the lifestyle. That's your new baseline and it stops being fun. First: it's a movie. Yes people can live like that if they have enough money.

Second: If that sounds like and ideal world to you, get off your ass, figure out a way to get it and make it happen.

Even if you fail along the way, you will have amazing stories to tell, more confidence, and maybe even a small rotation of girls who want to be intimate with you.

TL;DR figure out what you want, make a plan and go for it. Patience is key. As long as you are patient, persistence pays off.

You need to be grateful for whatever you have going for yourself. It kills me to see my dipshit friends who flunked out of school get nice BMW's with their mommy and daddies money. They just have it easy. But you are in charge of your own world and yours alone. You are better off than majority of the population and it's healthy to have some gratitude every so often. These people have it easy in the short term, but they lose out in the long run. When mommy and daddy aren't around and they have to fend for themselves, they won't have the ambition or discipline to navigate this world. Even in the movie you are talking about - things didn't end up well for the guy at all. You most likely have more character than these people will ever have and that's not something that can be bought. Hopefully your LTR will give you a deeper sense of meaning than any amount of hookers will. And realize this, with your engineering degree, you will be earning more than the average guy you see on the street. The average dudes art/music degree - while being fun - won't get them even close to the potential you have. Once you have yourself in a comfy financial situation, experiment. You could make it just as rich off something silly like a Youtube channel or side business. Just don't count on it.

The likely hood of getting an entry level IB role and then sticking around long enough to climb the ladder accounts for less than 1-2% of the pack. I pull in 80k in my second year as a civil engineer working a super casual 40 hour week—that’s plenty enough disposable income to have a baller apartment, not care about going out expenses, with room for 3-4 trips a year. Don’t compare yourself to others and stay on your path.

There is no industry in this world where success comes automatically. Be thankful that what you are striving for actually has good prospects for the future and is actually STEM. You want to know what I'm striving for? An English degree so I can get into publishing as a writer or editor. How good do you think those job prospects are? Not as good as those who get into what's in demand, and I curse that that's what my passions are every day. I fucking yearn for a different personality where starting and running a business was actually what I wanted to do.

As for the money, status and women - those things are connected and every man is competing for it.
