Evolutionary reasons:

sperm is cheap, plentiful, easy to make, and nearly inexhaustable in terms of duration of availability (even old men make sperm)
eggs are expensive, rare, and limited in both supply and duration of availability (women stop ovulating about 30 to 40 years after they start.)

Social\Psychological Reasons:

Multiple partners for men means he is desired and valuable for mating with\committing with.
multiple partners for women means she will have trouble pair bonding with a man she may want to commit to... especially if that man isn't her preferred sexual partner.

Pair-bonding isn't affected when a man has sex with many women in his lifetime. He learns at some point that sex with woman A is mostly the same as sex with woman B. Since out evolutionary sex drive is catered towards dumping sperm in as many vaginas as possible as often as possible men see sex as a utility and a necessity. The primitive male doesn't care if the offspring survives so much as he cares that he has many offspring: he can always make more.

A woman, on the other hand: women want to pair bond with the best sex they have ever had because good sex goes hand and hand with good genes. Her view of that sex is further amplified by his good looks and her perception of his ability to possibly have other mates. If he is well-desired by other women, then she knows she has a good man. If he is scoffed at by other women, she will think he isn't a good man. A woman's evolutionary sex drive is based on finding the best possible mate for babies and the best possible provider for making sure those babies survive. She cares if her offspring survive because making a new one takes 9 months and puts her out of commission for finding a man who wants to put another one in her.

Even women (and likely more so) slut shame. If you've ever been out with a group and the women in the group notice a woman flaunting herself in front of one of the men in the group, as soon as she is gone they will start in on the slut shaming. they'll use some covert language sometimes, but women definitely hate it when another woman out-sluts them. They hate it because it drives competition in them (they may feel they need to increases the sluttiness to drive attention towards themselves) and they hate it because sluts de-value all the other pussies: pussy isn't "special" and theirs isn't as highly sought after if Sally Slut-skirt is walking by advertising that hers will take less energy and time to get than the other women the men are currently with.

Simply put: men and women are not same and can not be treated the same. Men and women are different: they have different sexual drive mechanisms, different responses to sexual stimulus, and different presentations of sexual availability.

Stop believing the feminist-centered idea that women and men are to be treated the same, sexually. And if you scoff at that, consider how sexual abuse of men is handled and treated differently than the sexual abuse of women; "rape culture" doesn't have anything to do with men's rights and to say it does, in any way, makes you a rape apologist, a misogynist, and hell, you're probably a rapist yourself.

It's the same thing.

Insecure people will tell you that there are differences. They will give you analogies (like the key/door analogy or the driver/car analogy). They will tell you that it's easy for women to get laid while for men it's hard. What I'm seeing regarding the subject is the following:

Very high value people stay with high value mates.

Unpopular opinion: it's not quite as different as some of the guys around here like to think.
