Calling something "mean" is characterizing the communication itself as opposed to criticizing/evaluating the message for accuracy and legitimacy.

In reality there is no sugar coating. If you can't figure out what is required to create a fire when you need a fire, or how to distill salt water when you need to or how to hunt, you are a dead person. Reality does not care if you think that is "mean."

That is why people are so coarse here.

Real reason: Most people here are nerdy kids in high school / college trying to figure out how to act tough. So they use this sub to practice cursing, insulting, being cynical and mean, which they think makes them the tough "alpha" they want to become.

They don't actually act that way in the real world. Meet them in real world and you see who they really are. I was talking to one guy on this sub a few years ago who was trolling me and I learned we both live in the same town and I went to his work place and met him in person. He was like 22 or something, so basically still a kid. Gone are the toughness and alphaness he was faking on this sub and he was actually a wimpy kid living an alternate, alpha life on askTRP. That's when I realized those guys that act mean to other members of this sub are fake kids acting alpha who are losers irl.

TRP wasn't like this until it became popular for guys in this age range.

TBH I wish someone could make a new TRP offshoot sub exclusively for more mature (25 or older) men without all these immature autistic kids acting tough on reddit.

Because most people here are either trolls or genuinely stupid and have nothing to do with the actual sidebar.

There's one thing to insult someone out of anger because they care of their success, and another thing to insult them to feel good about themselves.

If they do the latter, it just shows that they are failures in life and try to gain that good feeling they are not getting enough in real life by taking advantage of a platform allowing them insult. It's fundamentally pathetic and disgusting.

If you see anyone struggling and a person is mean because they can to feel good about themselves, know that that person is just an pathetic basic individual.

If you compare old wise men who have studied and practised for a long time, mostly (because that is what is effective in most situations) you never witness them behave in a pathetic way which most of this sub does. It shows they have not internalized the basics and are not even qualified to answer.

There are many problems with the questions here.

People ask the exact same questions over and over. It would literally take them seconds to search and find the question they are asking, from yesterday, and the day before, and the day before

People speak in vague generalities and abstraction and expect concrete help. They say incredibly stupid shit like "I said this thing to a chick and she got mad at me. What should I do?"

People lie. Dudes will say 5 times how they don't care about some chick in a 2 page essay about the chick. They obviously care about the chick. If you lie to me, I'm going to be a dick to you
