I don’t think the typical girl a guy on this sub goes after is the blondes you describe. A large part of this sub does daygame, in large part because it lets you meet more down to earth women than you meet at clubs.

Follow the music. I've been near exclusively dating chicks with piercings, tattoos, dyed hair and they're always where their music is (Note: I would technically qualify as "alt" myself which adds to success along with knowing the scene). Most cities will have a bar that does emo night, or find where a local venue is that hosts shows for the more hip underground bands. A lot of alt girls like clubs too, there's a lot of clubs that play alt music and with a little research you'll find them.

Being knowledgeable of the music/scene will help you greatly. If you don't know what you're talking about it easily comes off as fetishizing.

I’m coming back from Niagara Falls and there was this store in the area that sold rock and roll/goth/alt/anime clothing, souvenirs, gifts etc. The workers and customers browsing all seemed to be the “alt” type you are interested in.

So although it seems obvious that you’ll find alt girls in alt-related communities/areas, I cannot think of much better places to specifically seek them out. Alt stores, alt concerts, fan meetups of alt bands.

As a metalhead, the obvious answer is to go to concerts where you'll find this. Doesn't even have to be that extreme, if you're in a city find your local Emo Night. Also they tend to live in specific neighborhoods in cities. Brooklyn in NYC, Allston/Jamaica Plain in Boston, H St Corridor in DC. Not sure about other places but you get the point.
