So, first off... What the fuck is Hashing? Here

Specifically Events and Traditions

While every Kennel(Group of Hashers) is different, the Kennels I've been to generally followed the same format. Show up at a bar (or...parking lot in the woods), have some beer, follow trail to a place with more beer, have more beer, follow trail back to the original location, have more beer, make fun of each other, and sing dirty songs. What I'm going to be writing about here applies mainly to City Kennels. Suburban Kennels are generally older, and slightly tamer.

I have never found good words to describe Hash, but for your benefit, I'm going to make an attempt to explain why you should be there.

Socializing - If nothing else, this gives you something to get you out of the house and staying in reasonable shape. There are Kennels in every major city. Worldwide. Normally a few ( NYC has 8 or so, I remember hearing DC hashes every night ). And they're generally filled with pretty fucking awesome people. I can probably drop into any city in America, find a hash, and I instantly have 20 friends and a place to crash. Just because I Hash. Even if there isn't a trail that night, I can probably find a few to go out drinking. If I meet a new Hasher I always have a laundry list of things to talk about. How did you get your name? When did you start hashing? Where did you start hashing? What's the craziest thing you've ever seen on trail? If I meet a girl out a bar, and I think she might be interested, I've got her number, we've got a date, and it works as a litmus test to let me know if she's any fun.

Comfort Zone - Sometime between me standing at the outskirts of circle, confused, and slightly alarmed, and the moment when we had cleared out our third bar of "regular" patrons and had been asked to never come back, How to Not Give a Fuck had seeped deep into my bones. The friendly, excessive, craziness of hash kinda makes normal bar hopping fade into the background.

Harriettes are Easy - I think it has to do with combining running, beer, singing, and the perverted names we give each other ( Sux 2 Blow, Bless Me Father 4 I Have Rimmed, EZ Ride Her, All Shaft No Head, Fluffer, Woody Wouldnt Pecker, You'll Do, M'Orally Challenged ). And if you go to some of the bigger, overnight hash events things can get...really interesting. I lost count of the amount of tits and vag I saw at the last one I went to.

As with all things you find on Seddit, try it out, see if it fits and works for you, then go from there.

On-On

Note: Trails are rarely running straight through. You can walk, or jog, and there will likely be opportunities to rest. NYC rarely runs less then 5 miles, and I would recommend staying away from the main hash. Try LIL, Brooklyn, or the NAWW/NASS. Haven't been to a C.U.N.T. but I've heard good things. The BFM and Full Moon in Philly are a lot of fun too. If you meet Uncle Bad Touch, ask him "Hey man, how's your penis?"
