I had this thought after seeing this meme.

My first inclination when a girl says a guy is a "boring nice guy" is that he isn't attractive and not necessary "boring".

I'm wondering how possible it is to be an attractive boring nice guy? or does being attractive and nice automatically make you interesting via halo effect? Are these boring guys actually boring or are they just unattractive?

Perhaps we can learn from evaluating platonic relationships, what makes a friend boring vs interesting? It may be a biased evaluation since we probably aren't going to be friends with someone we find boring but it can help take the attractiveness bias out a bit.

It may have to do with social/conversation skills, breadth and depth of life experiences, engagement/eye contact, sense of humor, etc. However, sometimes I've experienced anecdotes of when an attractive guy that is quiet labeled as dark and mysterious. That's the halo effect in action.

So in the end, it's more of a discussion on what the term "boring nice guy" really means. Is it just there as an euphemism for "unattractive guy"?
