Move on. There are hundreds of other bimbos in the venue who won't flirt with you for tips. Although the smiling, friendly, tight-dress, big-knocker bartenders are certainly distracting.

By the time you can get one, you wouldn't need to ask on this forum.

While this question is perhaps a bit flawed (you want to be charming with the bartender by saying something flirty, but you don't want to spend time flirting with her) it does open up another interesting question:

How do you flirt with a bartender if you're sitting at a bar alone?

If showing pre-selection, wouldn't it be better to go to a bar that you're already a regular at, so you already have a good rapport with said bartender?

Chances are if she's on the clock, she doesn't want to dock.

By all means be friendly and maybe drop a compliment here and there, but keep it platonic. If she makes it known she's there to work and just trying to sell you shit, know when to move on. Bartenders have to deal with people being interested in them by default, since they're obligated to be friendly to customers (like in any job in the service industry).

Ive had a lot of succes with bartenders in my life. I always point out other guys who are obviously in there to hit on them and tease the bartender about their "serious relationship" with them or "genuinly" say they are cute together.

Well, the first and most important rule is don't make it obvious that you're doing it to prove something (in this case, pre-selection). So you're already setting yourself up for a hard time.

Honestly, don't be a scumbag. Flirting on your own is fine and recommended, but if you're on a date, and you are clearly flirting with someone else, that's disrespectful. You should expect the same from anyone you'd go on a date with. If you wanted to create jealousy, that's not the way to do it.

Instead, Go to a bar regularly, and try to make friends with the staff during slow hours. Then, that level of social proof will work to your advantage when you come back, without the pitfalls of flirtation with somebody else while on a date.

Girls like having a sense that you have a lot of options and are desired, but being bashed over the head with it is a different story. Don't rub it in her face, and DEFINITELY don't communicate that you are trying to get a reaction.

EDIT: As to the how, you'd figure that out very quickly how to do friendly flirting if you got into the field enough. So, just talk to more girls and the basics of how to have a fun conversation while maintaining tension will become very natural and straightforward.

show up early and be friendly, fun, funny, etc, with bartender...show interest in her favorite or personal drinks. Dont come on super strong. Go to your bar table and wait for date. Now you and bartender can be friendly with each other because you have interacted already. When your date shows , order "the drink you told me about." You can even DHV the bartender about the drink. Social proof. :)
