They're out to compete with other girls. Our attention is secondary to get to that
[–]thegreatmanproject 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed. One of my teacher in uni told us that woman compete with woman. Even in the super market woman look to woman to observe their clothing styles.
[–]throatbanger 50 points51 points52 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
They dress like that to look good. To feel attractive. It doesn't mean anything else, they aren't necessarily signaling for attention or trying to attract someone specific. It's like when you as a guy put on clothes that you feel you look good in. Some people choose to show off their bodies to look good and that's all there is to it.
[–]twistedtowel 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I feel like a good analogy is when some dudes carry around guns or body armour… to “signal” they look tough. These women are “signaling” their seductive power or sexiness… but like you said may not be wanting the approaches. But would welcome a hot guy or someone interesting if they were open to it. Thats my guess
[–]PSM182 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I agreee but they for sure want attention. That’s possibly the biggest thing. They aren’t showing cleavage just for the fun of it. They know it brings attention
[–]throatbanger 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Maybe some do it for the attention sure. Again, the same way some guys do when they dress nice. But a lot of them just want to feel good about how they look and that's the end of it.
[+]PSM182 -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well the question is how good do those girls actually feel.
[–]throatbanger 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No, the question was pretty specifically why. But I think the answer to your question is, none of your business unless they decide to make it your business.
[–]erictostoff 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So a compliment would only work if she was looking for attention?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know when I wear certain clothes and styles it brings attention, doesn’t mean I want the attention or care about it. I just like looking good cause it feels good, I do the same thing when im not around anyone. Some girls might want the attention not all just like some guys want the attention and some don’t care and are just going to work.
[–]StereoFood 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why is feeling good and wanting others to appreciate your outfit mutually exclusive? It’s like people think it’s shameful to impress/peacock. It’s not.
“I do it for me”
Such a lie. Cmon, we do it for ourselves because we want others to notice as well. When I dress I dress the way I think looks good and others would, at the very least, not think it looks bad.
TLDR: Girls do it for attention and deny it
[–]Queen_Aardvark 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
If that were true, I would never hear a woman complain about how much work she does to look good; or complain about how much time she invested in doing make-up for a bad date or no-show.
[–]treexhugger 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are people with varying ideas and values we all don’t think the same. Your first mistake is viewing women as weird foreign beings who try and manipulate men for attention. Viewing women as equals and with respect will get you so much more game than any cheesy line on this sub will.
[–]norwegiandoggo 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Women who wear super revealing clothing can have many different motivations. Some do it to feel better, some enjoy the attention, some want men to hit on them, some are going to meet their husband, and want to look sexy for him. Maybe her husband even gets a kick out of her wearing these types of clothes and asked her to wear it. Maybe she's a model on her way to a photoshoot. Maybe she just forgot her sweater somewhere, and what she has under is a bit more revealing than what she would normally wear. Maybe it's hot outside and wearing less clothing helps her feel cooler. There could be soooo many reasons. That's why it's important to try to avoid making assumptions or stereotype.
[–]erictostoff 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What do you mean by feel better, and what makes revealing clothing better ?
[–]norwegiandoggo 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Do you have clothes you feel more confident and sexy in?
Do you have clothes that make you feel more shy and insecure?
For some women, revealing clothes makes them feel confident, beautiful, and sexy. And they enjoy those feelings. If you don't understand how this works because it doesn't apply to you, that's okay. You just have to know that many people feel this way.
I don't think revealing clothes are better or worse than non-revealing clothes. They are just different, serve different purposes, and what people decide to wear is based on many things like what the occasion is, temperature, and how they feel and want to feel. Most women have a collection of both revealing and non-revealing outfits, and they change between them depending on what the occasion is.

Why tf would anyone downvote this.
[–]erictostoff -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I personally dress for success yes, and yes people usually dress what they perceive as success. But to say one is better or worse kinda depends on where your morals are. If you love to be objectified yes where revealing clothes, but if you want to be respected not only for your feminine looks but also your gorgeous brain then I think we both agree that less revealing clothes leads to a much better outcome. Cuz men will see the beauty in the beginning either way. We just need substance to keep us around. In my humble opinion I would like my daughter to be respected rather alone
[–]appmanga 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women do like attracting men, so that's part of it. The thing I mostly see these days are women dressing for comfort, regardless of what does or doesn't show.

Maybe she just likes what she’s wearing?
Maybe she’s single and looking for some?
Only way to find out is to ask but you won’t so don’t let it worry you too much

Damn
[–]determinator94 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ehh clothing is clothing; don’t think too much of it. If she’s wearing, say, a top that bears her midriff and short shorts, just appreciate it. Don’t react
[–]Delicious_Ad_1853 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Why do you want it to mean something?
Even if there is some sort of meaning behind certain clothing choices, it's not going to be universal. That means you still have to set aside your preconceived notions and talk to her like the independent individual that she is.

Because you don't want to approach unless you know they're going to be receptive?
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
[–]Delicious_Ad_1853 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, you need to get over that. You're never going to know if they're receptive. If you want to have a healthy dating life, you have to learn how to take chances and handle disappointment.
[–]PrincesCynthia 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As a woman i'd also poise you the question- why do you think certain women wear less revealing clothing aswell? It could be because of religion and other standards, it could be because it's not flattering on their body, it could be because their not confident in their wear, it could be because they can't style it.
Like with both, wearing and not wearing it. There are a multitude of reasons. Just because a girl doesn't wear revealing clothing doesn't mean that we're all signaling we don't want anything. And just because we do, doesn't mean we're signaling we DO wan't something.
[–]Ok-Distribution7088 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ohhh child. Let me tell you why. I love my body. I have had huge boobs my whole life and just recently developed a nice ass. I wear clothes that make me feel sexy and confident. They fit me perfectly and show off my features. It is extremely hard shopping for my body type by the way. So I get what I know works.
Oh, and back where i am from, you don't wear anything revealing. Men are so insecure they will attack you in public and call you names for wearing anything short. So take it how you will, maybe it's me rebelling against my conservative culture, maybe it's me doing what I want with my body. Either way, none of your business.
I am also taken so I am not looking to be hit on. Of course I know people will look. I don't care. We all are free to do what we want with our bodies.

Power, control and narcissism. A woman who dresses in sexy and revealing clothes enjoys the attention, guys will gawp at her and she has the power to ignore them, acknowledge them, embarrass them or whatever she desires. It is a power trip and dynamic.
I ignore all good looking women, and especially those that walk around in clothes for attention. Don't feed the narcissistic female ego.
[–]ifIwantedu_Idhaveu 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
That’s a very defeatist mindset. It signals you’re thinking of yourself as a victim.
Men who act like this are obvious. We know why you’re ignoring us and we’ll shun you. If that’s your goal, carry on.
It’s natural to seek attention from the opposite sex (if you’re hetero). Men show off their physiques when they know they look good, and so do women.
If someone’s getting off on using it destructively, walk away. Don’t take it personally.
[–]Ceffyl_Dwr 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm not a victim or defeatist, I'm just not prepared to invest in your projected narcissistic female ego. Especially when I won't receive anything, the world has changed, and women looking "sexy and good" aren't worth much any more.
[–]ifIwantedu_Idhaveu2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
When you say you won’t get anything cause the world’s changed and attractive women aren’t worth much, what do you mean? I’m too young to have experienced that time, and want to understand where you’re coming from.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Who cares? It’s not for you anyway 😂🙄
[–]eszibit -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
The more revealing a woman dresses the more open to sex she is. It's like signaling in nature. She's not open to sex from everyone, just to the "right guy". The more conservative a girl dresses ( think Amish ) the more reserved she is.
Tattoos and piercings are the same usually. Of course there are exceptions to these rules but it's just like everywhere.
The girls that "need" attention are the same that stick their buts out on IG and love it when guys drool over them. Most of them have a high body count.
[–]eszibit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Most women are very nice even when they tell you "no". So shoot your shot, even if you give them attention, it is an unlimited resource. Just be respectful, nice, and try and have a conversation.
I don't have much experience cold approaching but the ones i did, i usually got a "not interested" but in a nice way. But i do remember a hot russian chick that was on a beach, granted she was wearing a bathing suit but she looked smoking. I talked to her, we ended up having breakfast and spending the night together and i was by far the hottest girl i've been with. We met again after a few weeks and she stayed at my place, she used to dress really revealing and had 5-6 tattoos. She was really open to sex and living life.
Most people love meeting other cool people but it doesn't happen that much since a lot of guys are shitty and a lot of girls can be bitchy.
Your chances of success are based on how good you look, how charming you can be and how well you match her preference.
Also think about it, when it's the last time you saw a hot girl that is in love with her bf and wear something too revealing?
[–]eszibit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeap, trust your gut. It was kinda fun, she was a bit too crazy for my taste but the sex was pretty good.
Yeah, you're spot on, any decent guy she would date would not let her dress slutty if she was in a relationship. Of course, again, there are exceptions but think about it, if she is in love she would dress down and cover up. Just like she does when she visits her parents etc.
But some will just love the attention for attention's sake, or for followers on IG etc, so don't take it to heart if you add her and she doesn't reply n shit. But some will and it's a numbers game. Just try and look as good as you can, it really helps out.
If the roles are reversed, imagine you are out shopping and a 5foot fat girl with pink hair talks to you and asks you for your ig and stuff, maybe you'd give it to her to be polite but it won't go anywhere.
If a 5'7 pretty girl with a nice ass does the same thing, you answer, talk, and plan a date.
A lot of women want to get fucked and/or have relationships but their cost of "doing business" is much higher, pregnancy and safety wise.
