If your conversations go like this, you are doing it wrong:
She: “So what do you do for a living?
You: I’m a journalist working at the Herald News and you?
She: I’m a nurse working at Santa Monica hospital
You: Oh cool you like it?
She: Yeah, it’s fun
You: Nice, is it close to your hometown i imagine?
She: Not exactly, i grew up in Candem town which is kinda far from here.
You: Oh, yeah, i visited that place once, they have some nice food in there
She: Oh yeah, definitely, that’s one of the best things, but i had to leave cuz i don’t like staying in one place
You: Oh so you like travelling a lot dont you?
She: Oh yeah, i went to japan recently”
You: Oh i wanna go there, did you like it?”
She: Yes it’s very different from here
You: Oh i bet
If this is more or less how your conversations go with girls, then this is the problem. It’s all logical, predictable, dull, forgettable, conversations that do not trigger any emotions, any sexual tension, or anything…
And if she doesn’t feel turned on or emotionally invested in any way with you, then the conversation isn’t really seductive and it was a waste of time.
So, below is how you could improve this same conversation by spicing things up.
Let’s put an example:
She: What do you do for a living?
You: I sell pictures of my feet to gay men in onlyfans.
She: hahahahaha, no way, you for real?
You: I am indeed
She: Wow, that was so unexpected. Does it pay well?
You: Nah, i’m just fucking around with you, i’m actually a journalist.
She: Omg, you are such an ass, i actually believed you for one sec.
You: Haha, couldn’t resist, just wanted to see how innocent you are.
She: Asshole 🤣
You: So what about you, what do you do?
She: I am a nurse at Santa Monica Hospital
You: If i ever get sent there, i’m gonna sue the hospital if I don’t get you as my nurse
She: Haha, is that so?
You: “Yeah, i only trust innocent pretty nurses with my life”
She: Sure, sure… I bet you say that to all the pretty nurses.
You: Well, as long as they make me feel the way you do, then yes.
She: Oh yeah? And how do I make you feel exactly?
You: Well when you smile at me like that, i feel like my heart is gonna explode, and it’s your fault for being so cute.
She: Hahaha, you are making me blush.
You: We barely know each other and you are already blushing. Girl we’ve got some chemistry”
More or less this is how you can make it more flirty, more fun, and more unpredictable by answering absurd things to her questions.

Most women want to laugh, and have fun. They don’t want to over analyse shit, or think logical when they are flirting.
It’s all about being humorous, observant, commenting on things you observe about the environment, heck even if you to all about topics, let’s say religion you can make it funny and light by simply joking:
• She: So what do you think about religion?”
• You: That me and the devil would get along great, i’m sure you could be our succubus and join our plans for world domination”
or
• You: “Well i’m going to hell for sure, unless someone saves me in less than 24 hours… That’s why i came for your help”
See what i did there?
Rather than talking about religion, whether I believe in god, or which religion is the real one, or getting into a debate about the big bang or evolution, or any boring crap like that… I switched it something more humorous and more light.…
Another example:
• She: “What do you think about science”
• You: “Well girl, I think you and me have some chemistry together😏”
You take the opportunity to flirt, while avoiding any deep convos.
Let’s put one last made up example of a playful conversation just to help you see an ideal fun conversation:
• She: What’s your sign?
• You: Libra and you
• She: Oh same
• You: Well, let’s just get married then
• She: Haha, for sure, where is our wedding?
• You: Las vegas baby, but this has to be our secret, or we might get in trouble”
• She: Why would we get in trouble?
• You: Because my parents are christian and i’m not, and they want a catholic weddings.
• She: i’d like a catholic wedding too”
• You: Well darling, then i’m afraid we can’t be together anymore, i want a divorce
• She: Hahaha, but we aren’t even married yet, how can there be a divorce?
• You: Doesn’t matter, you keep the children, I keep the dog. Tell them I’ll miss them, but not as much as the dog.
• She: Wow, and why shouldn’t i be the one to keep the dog instead?
• You: Really? are you really gonna abandon your children to a guy like me? What kinda of mother are you?
• She: Oh! Says the guy who misses the dog more than OUR children?
• You: I mean they don’t call a dog a man’s best friend for nothing… Besides, the dog loves me more
• She: 😂That’s not true, the dog loves mommy more.
• You: “Don’t make our dog choose who he loves most, it’s not fair to them
• She: I don’t need to, coz he is a good boy, and good boys love mommy more
• You: - There is only one way to make this divorce deal.
• She: - What way?
• You: - Rock paper scissors. Whoever wins gets to keep the dog, and whoever loses owes the other a drink
• She: - Haha ok, 1 2 3
• You: - (I win) Piña colada for me and my dog thank you
• You: - (She wins) “I’ll miss you buddy, (talking to an imaginary dog) I wish i’d marry you instead”.
That’s more or less how to be playful and fun.

Another Example:
You: “Hey i have to tell you something, i thought you look cute so i wanted to find out if your personality is cute too, my name is Tom…”
She: “Oh wow, thanks, My name’s Karla”
You: “Oh no, a Karla?… My mom warned me about girls named Karla”
She: Why?
You: “I don’t know… she told me they bite… Should i be scared you are gonna bite me”
She: Haha… Not for now! but we’ll see (she plays along)
You: “Oh, shit! I’m gonna pretend like my heart didn’t just go from 0 to 100 real quick”
She: Haha, nah I’m kidding.. I don’t really bite. I’m a nice girl”
You: “Nah, you look so evil, i bet your head twists around like the exorcist”
She: Haha, you ere exaggerating.
You: I know i’m just messing with you… I’m loving your sense of humour.
She: Thank you, but it’s because you are really funny.
You: “So… If you think i’m funny and I like your sense of humor… I guess now I need to know your zodiac sign?”
She: Oh haha, i’m libra and you?
You: No way!! I’m libra too…
She: Wow really? What a coincidence!
You: Yeah… Hey listen… Let’s just get married Karla! We are perfect for each other.
She: “Hahahaha, you are crazy.”
You: “Come on! We are Libra! I’m sure your friends will make great maids of honor”
She: “Oh for sure, they would love to be maids of honor”
You: “I tell you what, we get married in Las Vegas and then we fly off to the caribbean”
She: Ok but only because we are going to the caribbean”
You: Let’s practice shall we? Here hold my arm
She: Holds your arm
You: Start singing the Wagner Wedding March and then say: ”We are gathered here today… to celebrate this thing called love at first sight”… If anyone feels any reason why these two should not be married, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace”
She: “Laughing her ass off”
You: “May i kiss the bride?”
She: “Noooo hahahaha”
You: “That’s it i want a divorce”
She: “Wow, that was a short marriage”
So basically this is how you could make a conversation fun and flirty, rather than making a boring job interview style conversation about what you study and what you do for work.
These is all banter and jokes. You are not being serious about the zodiac signs or the exorcist thing or anything here. You don’t need to believe in the zodiac signs to joke about it.
Too many guys who can’t understand a joke and try to be all logical and boring like:
“Oh but signs do not really dictate your personality because it’s not science bla bla blah…
She knows it already, the point is to joke around, not to mansplain and be patronising… Flirting is about playing and having fun not about being boring, generic and dull.

As someone new to push pull like in your examples, I have this question. If you have a one hour first date and you spend two thirds of the interaction bantering and one third giving serious replies, would it be favorable on average that she had fun but you're still a mystery even with the most basic personal information and she didn't get to check off many green flags because of that? (In the context of someone looking for a serious relationship.)
[–]vorter 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, very much so. There are plenty of guys that check boxes but don’t give her the tingles. Attraction is emotional, not logical. Not showing red flags is more of a concern than showing green flags IMO.

This is the best response in this thread. I had a date yesterday and it was exactly like the first convo. It was an interview with awkward pauses.
Now I realize to just play with her responses in a fun way.
[–]Paltenburg 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Do you have regular meetings with friends 1-on-1 that are fun for both of you? Make it exactly like that.

Goddamn there's some shit advice in this thread. Don't ditch that girl. I'd really appreciate it if someone let me know I was doing something that would hinder my dating life. sounds like she was actually trying to help.
girls want emotions. teasing, joking, flirting, fun stories, etc... strictly logical conversation is the enemy when it comes to socializing in general, but that goes double on dates.
you don't have to be some kind of comedian or performance monkey, though. just don't be afraid to express your honest feelings about things. your purpose atm, your hobbies, things you think are hilarious.
also, don't just ask questions. if you want to talk about movies, "I bet you're into horror movies" is way better than "what kind of movies do you like?" in other words, just start talking about the things you're interested in, then let her contribute.
[–]shittyfuckdick 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea idk why everyone shitting on her. Tbf though she wasn’t trying to give me advice, she just really likes roasting but it goes both ways. I mean the girl cooks me dinner every week how much of a bitch can she be?
[–]justbrowsing74 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I think being a good conversationalist takes practice. It shouldn't feel like an interview, so try to mix in some statements rather than just asking questions.
Don't be afraid to tease the girl (I don't necessarily mean in a sexual way). Especially listen to what she says and bring it up later in the night.
Work on storytelling too. It's best if your story is somewhat relevant to the topic you're discussing. And you can cut out irrelevant details so your story is on topic and the right length.
When joking I think it works for me to be a little be cocky and try to avoid anything self-deprecating.
[–]bonix 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Do you have passions or hobbies? A job? School? Don't worry about what she's into, you can find that out on a date. But it she asks you questions you should have answers with weight behind them. "I really like movies" vs "I really enjoy movies, specifically this director or that director. Have you ever seen this movie?" See how one is boring and one actually is a conversation?
[–]shittyfuckdick 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yea I see what you mean. I have a good job as a software engineer, but I feels it’s boring to talk about. I do work for a non profit that helps people so I usually try and mention that.
But yea I like tech, guitar, movies, chess, and weightlifting.
[–]Samokoske2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Propose a workout date, walk her through a park with chess pieces and take her home for a jam session. Stopping at the park for hot dogs or a picnic.
[–]cass2769 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
First of all, if she was texting DURING your date then she is part of why it was boring…bc you can’t be fully in a convo if you’re being judged and texting your friends.
I think short first dates are the best. Grab a coffee or something quick. It’s also nice sometimes to get out and do something. You want to be able to talk but doing something a little more active can be fun. Even just a walk around a park.
Next is to find out a little about someone before you meet them but not too much. Don’t follow them on social media or text for weeks and months before getting together. Bc if you do that then you know too much about them and it’s harder to ask questions.
Ask questions. Maybe even think of a few in advance. And go beyond surface level. Ask why she does for work…then ask how she got interested in that and what her career goals are.
What is it that you are passionate about? Maybe you’re not into pop culture but I’m sure there are things you are really into. Don’t be afraid to be a little vulnerable and share what you are passionate about.
Talk about the future. Where do you want to travel? What goals do you have for your life? Ask her similar questions.

It must have been while i was in the bathroom cause i dont remember her even being on her phone other than to show me pictures or something.

On the last date I went on with a woman, she said “let’s play a game. I’m going to assume a hobby of yours and you tell me if it’s true or not. And then you assume for me”. It spurred some conversation for a while and we got to know each other!

Just putting it out there that the girl you were seeing was a fucking bitch honestly. I'd be willing to take a bet you're not boring at all - maybe boring to people who are clearly a bit superficial and quite nasty.
Please don't internalize the crap she said because it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. Also embrace you are are. I'm personally rather introverted and like you, I don't have wild stories to tell, lots of friends, I don't go to parties or know anything about popular media. But, I have a very rich inner world and love talking about ideas and special interests for hours on end.
It's all about meeting people who connect with you and what you're into. Many people won't get you, and will even express pity towards you (I've been there myself!) but your match will find your mind fascinating.
Bets of luck.

I’m confused why you guys keep saying she’s a bitch. Why is it a bitchy if I didn’t make a good first impression with her and she let me know?
[–]cobraCL 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
My take: There was nothing stopping her from forming her opinion on you and making an informed decision to stop hanging out with you based on that. But she felt the need to not only tell you you are "boring" but to literally show you texts she sent to her friends about how "boring" you are. It goes beyond honesty to mean-spiritnedness and crosses a social line.
For example you meet a girl and she's not as pretty IRL as you thought she would be. You might acknowledge that and decide not to see her further. Would you, however, feel the need to overtly tell this girl you found her unattractive and show her texts telling all your friends how unattractive she is?
Yes its "honest" but frankly unnecessary. Especially considering that what is boring is so incredibly subjective - you were just not her taste.
[–]shittyfuckdick 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I guess i can see that. Ive been seeing her for a few weeks now and i didn't really take much offense when she said. I found it more helpful than anything cause it gave some insight as to why my dates aren't going very well.

Just a rude girl and sounds immature af bro
[–]shittyfuckdick 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I dont really see it as being rude. More like just honest of her first impression of me.

You don't want to be interesting. You really don't. It involves work, effort, socializing a lot even when you don't want to, going out, learning new things, talking to people, etc. it's much easier to have zero interests and pay zero attention to what's going on.
So you have to figure out which of these two is stronger. Are you horny enough to go out and become more social and interesting or are you risk averse enough that you want to stay in your little box.
I mean its really not for a lack of trying. I’m doing my best to put myself out there it’s just been a struggle. I’ve been forcing myself to go on dates just to get the experience.
I really want friends and to do social stuff but I just don’t get interests from anyone. Seriously I’m doing work and trying it’s not like I’m just sitting on my ass crying about it. I want to improve.
[–]controversial_parrot 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It sounds like you need to work on your inner game as well as outer game. Sure you can fake an interesting conversation or two, but how do you actually become interesting? IMO this comes from experiencing and learning many things. If I were you, I'd save up some money and go travel the world for a few months. Get off social media and read more interesting books. Go to a meetup or something where people discuss ideas. Aquire political opinions. Take up a creative hobby like music or writing. You're socially sensitive enough to realize that people have found you boring so there is hope for you! Keep improving!
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Are you really boring around your friends? If not, be like that. If so, you need social experience. You just need to remove the filter, and talk about something you want to talk about. That will help you relax, get you in a good mood, and you won't be so anxious and trying to impress so much. The key here is self-amusement, curiosity, and empathy.
