It's like you said, grades are the only thing that matters. Most of the people you meet in HS you likely won't hear from them again in a decade. But that doesn't mean you can't build your social skills (which you will use for a life time). As kapoof2 said, talk to girls and guys and build them up and they will return the favor to you.
And if you see bullying, stopping that shit will improve your reputation.

Don't give a fuck. You'll look back and regret it otherwise

Sounds like you have a great mind set. Even the best pick up artist only have a success rate of 4% so be prepared to be rejected 95% of the time its normal.
Have fun mate.

I remember I learned piano, figured I could impress my crush, wanted to be tough and play for the whole school. Too bad I liked someone I couldnt have. The rejection stopped me and I completely ignored the other bomb girls who was interested in me. I regret that. Highschool times, well last year basically.
So yes man, don’t fear rejection and keep slaying

You're doing great bro. Just remember when you do hang out, girls talk so bring your A-game
[–]lildudefromXdastreet 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don’t be scared of rejection, just be careful. It’s fine to approach, but you don’t want to seem like a creep because that’ll hurt your chances with a lot of girls. Make some actual friends you can sit down with and hang out with from time to time so you don’t end up being “that guy” who just follows random girls tables all the time.

It will affect your reputation, and you should care. Don't listen to the others in this subreddit. They have nothing on the line while you do.
Hitting on other students is the same as hitting on coworkers. Don't shit where you eat.
With that being said, if you must flirt with coworkers, it HAS to be done tactfully and respectfully. Cold approaching is to be done with strangers that you will never see again if it doesn't go your way.
If your reputation makes all the girls perceive you as just "a horny dog", the only women who will be interested in you are women you want to stay far away from. If you can build a reputation as the "Outgoing and well spoken guy", that is more ideal. This is done in a couple of ways.
Don't just talk to girls, talk to everyone.
Don't just talk to attractive people, talk to everyone.
Don't just talk about yourself, ask questions.
Dont try to be the most important person in the room, build others up and they will do the same for you.

I 100% agree with the last 4 lines of this comment. Everything else is just silly. High school is not the workplace. It is very specifically a place to learn. That includes social skills. Practice practice practice and be absolutely ok with failure. Also any ‘reputation’ you get in HS won’t matter within a year of graduation.
[–]lildudefromXdastreet 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I disagree a little bit. While its true HS reputation won’t matter after he graduates, I assume OP wants to get some play while he’s still in HS. If you get labeled a creep, no girl is going to want to mess with you.
There’s nothing wrong with cold approaching but OP should be smarter about it. Walking up to girls all lunch is kind of lame. None of the guys in HS who get any do that.
[+]Kapoof2 -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
High School is no different from a job, you go, you see the same people, you do your work, go home, repeat.
Social skills are learned during group projects and the lunch table, not cold approaching other students trying to get a nut.
As far as his reputation not mattering within a year of hs, you have no way of knowing that. Word travels fast in some communities.
Also, encouraging someone to needlessly ruin their reputation when there are better options is why men get a bad rep these days. Act like a horny dog and you will get treated accordingly.
Practice makes perfect is not necessarily true, PERFECT practice makes perfect. Imperfect practice builds and reinforces bad habits.
Failure should never the target, if you aim to fail, you will. Aim for success, failure is not an option.
[–]introsetsam 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
it’s very different from a job, one you go to to learn, doesn’t really matter who wants to be your friend and who doesn’t, you probably won’t see the same people again as your classes and teachers change. the other place is where it matters if your coworkers like you or not, you’re a grown adult meant to do a job and focus on work, and you’re going to see everyone for as long as you work there, which could be years. at work, someone could feel obligated to accept his flirting and advances while being uncomfortable. in high school, the girls are gonna laugh at him and they’ll all move on. they are not the same.
[+]Kapoof2 -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What happens when he ends up working with one of the girls he has harassed (since he harrassed all of them)?
What happens when he ends up working for one of their fathers?
What happens when he is in the same class with them next year?
What happens when every girl knows who he is and what he is up to and word spreads to females that he hasn't even talked to yet? Talk about preconceived notions.
High school is a professional environment, whether high schoolers realize it or not. Yes, some consequences are not as intense as they might be for an adult, but the dynamics are the same.
Why do you all insist that he make an ass out of himself?
[–]introsetsam 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
he never said he was harassing them, he’s sitting at their lunch table and making friends. come on. idk why everyone is going 0-100. everything you said is assumed to the extreme
[–]Kapoof2 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
"cold approached too many girls", "randomly going up to groups of girls" "worried about reputation".
Of course he didn't say he harrassed. Noone premeditates harrassment in cases like this. Sometimes you have to connect the dots.
[–]introsetsam 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
he’s clearly just anxious and asked if he is doing too much. he said he literally just does it during lunch. even if he gets a light rep as a man whore, it really does NOT matter in high school. i cannot tell you who in my high school was known for being a horny boy because it was…ALL of them?? and honestly the girls really didn’t mind the attention. it’s high school. it’s lunch. switch tables, talk to people, NO ONE CARES
[–]Robofrogg1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Your mindset is too full of fear and what ifs to be successful.
[–]Kapoof2 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I conquered the seduction game a long time ago, but thank you for the concern.
Yeah the advice on here is awful. high school is unequivocally not the place to do cold approach. Protection your reputation, get good grades, do extracurriculars, and get fit and everything else should work out come college time.
[–]ProfessionalSeries40 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'm 20 now, in University(in Romania it's not called college) and I literally never approached any girl during my 4 years in HS and I honestly regret it. So, yeah, keep doing what you're doing.
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]ProfessionalSeries40 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In that case no, but it's just odd that people would make a fool out of you just for approaching girls, i mean you're a dude and it's normal to be interested in girls.
[–]surfershane25 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you go to college in another city and don’t move back after you won’t keep in contact with 95% of the people you knew and were friends with in HS. Being flirty and confident won’t harm your reputation just don’t be a dick or creepy or put women in situations they don’t want to be in and you’re good to go.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
High school is the jungle. It’s human nature fully exposed. After high school the world becomes more complex, but in high school it is simple. The most fit & confident guys get the girls, the weak guys with no confidence, don’t get the girls. Just like it was for most of human history.
Whether you’re perceived as creepy or friendly is largely dependent on how you carry yourself.
Do you dress with sense or do you try to be edgy, weird & “different”? If it’s the latter, you be perceived as a creep.
Are you fat or really skinny, or do you eat right & generally stay in shape? If its the latter people will be more receptive to your approach.
Do you speak confidently & mentally internalize that “you’re the shit”, or are you extremely passive, insecure & stumble over your words? If you’re the latter, you’ll be perceived as a creep.
Are you aligned with any masculine activities like a sports or athletics team, or are you a loner that can’t display some form of mastery or excellence?
If it’s the former, you’ll likely be respected (humans have always respected physical prowess, it’s why athletes earn more than doctors.
In high school its especially the case because high school is primal. If it’s the latter, girls may befriend you but you may find yourself friendzoned very quickly women are inclusive like that.
After all, in the early days of our existence, the men who couldn’t hang with the hunters & warriors, often had to pick the berries with the women and they were more than happy to stick a flower in that guy’s hair for shits and giggles.
I know a lot of what I’m saying may sound exaggerated, and to an extent it kind of is, but to stress a point about the dynamics that lead to respect or being outcasted in high school.
You can either accept the world you’re in as it is, or live a lie, but its YOU that will deal with the results not anyone on this sub, so you get to decide how you wanna take this post.
Nevertheless, don’t stress over girls too much. You’re young, you’re just coming into your boyhood, far from being a man. Once you head off to college, that’s where the real fun starts (if you start working on your fitness & confidence now, that is).
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well based off what you just said you’re on the right track, just keep moving how you move. Be the guy that’s kinda cool with everyone, but does his own thing. We all knew guys like that back in high school & they were respected because they still had the other traits (physical prowess, confidence etc.) to show they weren’t just a social outcast & pushover.
Keep doing what you’re doing if its getting you results. Eventually once you’re cool with one group of girls all the other girls will wanna be cool with you because that’s how girls are.
[–]princesspeachy0 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You want to be careful about not coming off as a creep by showing you can build and have normal and healthy friendships. I’ve been creeped out by (and I know girls talk to each other about) guys that don’t seem to have any chill, just hitting up any girl (sometimes randomly in person or sliding thru DMs) and not making much effort to hang out with other guys.
[–]Minute-Lie-2287 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nope, forget them. They most likely did it just to try to look good. If you're a good looking guy they reject then bam instant status... Especially if you don't really have a friend group because no recourse, they aren't going to have to risk looking bad to anyone in the process.
You're fine doing you, as long as you're just chill.
[–]spartan-kick 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, it will affect your reputation. People will think you’re a cool and friendly guy who is also good with girls.
[–]dobbs1997 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When I was in High School I did the same but instead of only talking to chicks and flirting with them, I simply talked to everyone, girls, guys, teachers, everybody..and while doing that I inevitably encountered certain females who I ended up having an intimate connection with & I’d just capitalize on that if I felt like it..but talk to everyone, not just girls..trust, it’s the right way to go.
[–]Max_Longfellow 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Depends on the high school but if high school is still like it was a couple decades ago, word gets around quick.
The good thing is, even though it feels like the whole world right now, temporary.
Take it from someone who didn't regret not being popular in high school:
Work out. When you start noticing differences, you bet your ass other people are. Focus on grades, that shit will follow you but your reputation won't. No one in college gives a shit who you are when you get there. Learn about how people are interacting and positive ways to get involved with social groups. Cold approaching a group in highschool in my day, unless you were the stereotypical hot jock quarterback mcfuckstick whoever they were, was useless. Someone will always try to bring you down unless you have some kind of gimmick. Fucking yo-yo tricks used to be an easy way to walk by and open lol!
I wouldn't say necessarily "don't give a fuck" because you could get into some bad habits that work in high school, but aren't so attractive as adults, depending on the caliber of woman you want that is lol.
I would say that since you know it will all be the past, use this time to try some game and find out what is working for YOU personally. Take risks but give a fuck taking them. Hell make a list. Put a check next to things that progress and cross out things that don't. When The Game came out, fucking canned material had most of us like "wtf?! this works?" but was pretty much outted within a few years.
What you'll ultimately want and what will make things sooooooo much less work for you, is knowing what works for you, then applying aspects of gaming to amplify your natural game.
College is gonna be rad for you dude. If you're having a hard time now but are trying, everything gets flipped upside down in college. Sure the athletes get chicks easy, but you start to realize that when you parents made you take those piano lessons people picked on you for (or whatever skill you may have), that suddenly the ability to whip out something on the piano at a party will have all the ladies looking at you.

The effect on your reputation will depend on how they respond. If they’re telling you to go away and you persist your rep will be bad. But if you get positive responses, your reputation will be fine.
Personally, I wouldn't do much approaching like this in high school until senior year. Yes grades are ultimately all that matters, but getting a negative reputation can make it hard to keep your grades up. It becomes easier to approach without building a rep in college, especially if you go to a medium to large school.

Bad press is better than no press.
If it helps people in my life: family, co-workers, women think I’m some kind of incubus (their word). I’m always social w everyone when out, always talking to women or with women and it’s only been a net positive. As long as you don’t have a player vibe, and more a fun masculine man vibe who doesn’t hide his sexuality keep it up!
[–]oreopimp 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The other thing. Worry about what you think, not what they think. Be someone that offers value imo. For me I believe they will have a better time knowing me than not knowing me, and we’ll both have an amazing positive experience together, and that overrides anything I think they could be thinking or perceiving and often that frame I hold is stronger than any perceived frame a woman could have before she’s had a chance to meet me
Who gives a shit, they'll remember you as the confident guy who went after what he wanted and had the balls to do so. If anything that's a plus to your reputation
In high school this will actually make you the man. Keep up this energy. IF they’re actually into it… plus fuck it if you’re new, there’s no reason not to approach new people and make new friends

Focus on school, everything else is a rabbit. Go pet rabbits when you’re in the mood to. Avoiding falling into a specific clique keeps your people options open, which in turn keeps your options for girls open. Approach everyone and float.
