Brilliant people use their brilliant minds to create brilliant obstacles and limitations.

Good point! The ability to come up with endless rationalizations is also a common factor.

Exactly

Believing that social interactions can be approached logically and deterministically. There is no magic formulas or pickup lines that work every time.
I'm reminded of the guy that went to a girl at a bar and just kept barking at her like a dog, and eventually she went home with him. It also reminds me of when I was at a party as a teen, and the girls there dressed up one of my friends like a girl, then he got laid later that night.
I think girls who like you will give you leeway and allow (some) mistakes and awkwardness, and girls who don't like you won't give you the time of day regardless of what you do. There are plenty of guys who are druggies and unemployed and still somehow find women.
But generally I'd say it's good advice to make yourself as attractive of a man as you can be, which involves losing weight, going to the gym, making yourself interesting, being funnier and more socially dominant, and most importantly putting yourself out there.
If you think about it, being overly logical seems like it would just kill the fun of attraction and sex and relationships anyway. Sex itself is an absurd, kind of pointless thing, attraction is all just evolutionary biology and cultural indicators of benefits to offspring. I agree with Michael that it's more like learning to play an instrument than anything else, you study the theory, practice, but you got to learn to riff, be creative, incorporate what you know, and perform in the moment without hesitation. Maybe similar to analyzing sports vs. actually playing.

I honestly don't think socially "dominant" is the key. Competent, however
[β]BluePsychosisDude2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, there's a sort of negative connotation to "dominant", I more mean engaged, on the ball, able to keep up. Dominant kind of implies a sort of asshole that's aggressive, but I more mean stuff like eye contact, able to tell stories and jokes, etc. I was debating using a different word.

Possessing a timidness that results from living in "safe spaces" and being terrified of offending others. If you are petrified to make your honest interest and intentions known, nothing will ever happen.
It comes from the social conditioning that most young people, particularly young men, receive these days. Young men are conditioned to believe that to pursue a woman is basically an unethical act unless everything happens to line up perfectly.

Yupp.. gotta be her Mr. Perfect or youβre just another creep.

Number (0) They probably have some form of autism, which can negatively effect emotional intelligence and social skills.
I've seen literally no dating advice for people who have some form of autism other than "date other autistic people."

I just bought the book "Decoding Dating" which is specifically about dating advice for people on the spectrum. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but you should at least be aware that books like this are out there.

Thank you. It's now on my reading list.

There is. Itβs called CARD program which would have customized programs for training adults with ASD on how to build basic social skills as part of an overall individualized plan. Their dating issue are part of a deeper problem which needs to be fixed first before they can even think about dating.
[β]SDdude81 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
CARD is the Center for Autism and Related Disorders. Going to therapy through them isn't exactly the place to go for dating advice.
And no, basic social skills aren't the problem. Trying to attract and date women is difficult on its own which is why this sub even exists. Trying to do it with high-functioning autism is like the Dark Souls of dating.

I have high functioning autism and I'm 5'5". The only girl I got close to in a romantic way was also autistic and we seemed to just 'get' each other but we met at a summer camp and lived 300 miles away from each other so it didn't work out.
I have high functioning autism and I'm 5'5"
Are you me? Your name says you're not but I don't believe you.
To bad you things didn't work out for you and that girl.
Back in 2013 I finally got my first girlfriend at 30 years old. She was amazing. She left me after six months and I've been single ever since. What a life.

A person with ASD won't make any dating progress trying to connect with neurotypical individuals without first increasing their social skillset to neurotypical levels. That's why I'm saying they need to get actual ASD therapy that is designed for ASD adults which is the closest they can get to social advise since they include social skills training. There is not existing dating program that will have the expertise to understand the nuance of dealing with ASD.

there are pharmacological ways to reduce symptoms of autism such as ALCAR
[β]SDdude81 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Somehow I don't think medication is going to help the ability to decipher social cues or how to not say the wrong things.
[β]fanfan64 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't think you can guess anything about what pharmacology cannot do
The percentage of responders to carnitine treatment was around 60%. Most of the outcomes improved after carnitine administration in responders over time, e.g., the ABC hyperactivity subscale, SCQ, PDDBI social pragmatic problems domain, and AIM social-emotional reciprocity impact. Similarly, PDDBI social approach behaviors, PDDBI expressive social communication abilities composite scores, and PDDBI receptive/expressive social communication abilities composite scores significantly increased over time (indicating behavioral improvement).

I've got no idea what any of that means.

If you all want to have a discussion based on the merits and actual content of the post or the video, then that is what this forum is for.
But you have to keep it on topic (see Rule 4).
If you don't have something substantive beyond vague insults, personal attacks, or any other responses which do not concretely relate to something in the video or post, then you're in the wrong place.

Lmfao..... I'm sorry but there is no need for this, just be yourself. If you are attracted to someone ummm oh snap ... rocket science says.... Let that someone know, ?? Duh. Just be yourself ππ€£ No need to"attract" you should be looking for your other half, if you're just trying to get in someone's pants then this topic has relevance
