Completely right, first impressions will always be appearance. Start with a shower and maybe some shampoo

but shampoo makes my hair oily,. i like only water, caveman style
[–]terrorvision101 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, shampoo is bs! Stopped washing my hair years ago, so much easier!
But yeah, soap and cologne for the rest of me when I want to make a good impression
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What a load of bollocks you cunts chat. Who doesn't have a shower and wash their hair!?
[–]Short-Translator-728 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nice generic platitude, acting like guys don't shower is what's holding them back.
I know guys that smell like BO or stale food and they have no problem attracting and talking to girls because they have the looks.
Meanwhile, I'm over here wearing $90 cologne showering daily and going to the gym daily and getting insulted by women without even saying anything.
Looks are the #1 factor in attraction.
[–]Goulronk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Yea it's very clear that appearance is key.
Only issue is there are some men who just aren't very good looking and it kinda seals the deal for us ever having a chance due to appearance being so prevalent.
[–]terrorvision101 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
It's an important factor, but not the only important factor. Good looks don't get you laid, being ugly doesn't make it impossible. Make yourself as attractive as possible physically, then make yourself as attractive as possible mentally. See the thread above, there's some good stuff there
[–]Short-Translator-728 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, it's really the only factor.
Take away your appearance and you would strike out every single time without fail no matter how good your game is.
[–]Goulronk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I have read the thread and while it is very upsetting the OP does have a total point that appearance is key.
What I was saying is that some people are born not very attractive and considering that appearance is key what are they to do realistically?
Like if you were born unattractive to women what can really be done to circumvent that?
I've personally worked as hard as I can to focus on the things gs I have control over in terms of making myself the best version of me possible. But unfortunately there isn't much that can be done about how I look unless you bring up radical options such as plastic surgery etc. Which I not really willing to do.
[–]terrorvision101 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah that's a fair point.
It's easy for an average guy to really enhance himself to a point of attractiveness. Not so much for an really unattractive guy. I can imagine getting friend zoned is more prevalent, and just straight up rejection.
That said, I do know some pretty ugly dudes in happy relationships, so it's not impossible
[–]Goulronk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean if they're in relationships then honestly they can't be considered ugly if women find them attractive.
Guys who are actually unattractive are not going to be attractive to women.
[–]terrorvision101 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Eh, looks are subjective - everybody looks the same in the dark
[–]Goulronk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's true, unfortunately we don't live in the dark.
If it were completely dark all the time then maybe in that world I would have been given a chance.
[–]Short-Translator-728 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ah the old "i know a guy".
If it's an ugly guy in a relationship, either he's
a) not ugly
or
b) in a providership role and she's sleeping around with guys behind his back.
Or she finds other qualities redeeming?
Or perhaps she's not a 10 herself?

I think guys take the "looks don't matter as much" line a bit too far. It doesn't mean dress like a slob, be balding but keep the horseshoe, and don't try to stay in shape. It means do the best with what you go. If you show that you treat yourself and your body with respect, that you dress and maintain your hair, nails, body hair, ear and nose hair like you actually take pride on yourself you can get away with much more than a woman of your equal looks rating.
[–]TheSunshineMan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Looks do matter.. but not nearly as much as 99% of the guys on this sub think.
Your look is more important than your looks.
[–]Short-Translator-728 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Tell that to all of the ugly guys that have been putting in years of consistent effort and have done everything right to a T and still get nothing.
[–]TheSunshineMan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What's your definition of doing everything right?
[–]Short-Translator-728 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Following all of the advice and platitudes of a subreddit like this.
I guarantee that I have more approaches than 99.999% of the guys on this sub and have put more effort into the art of pick-up/seduction than just about everyone here, and yet, I've had zero yields or returns because of someone immutable that's out of my control.
I've perfected my hygiene, my physique, my social skills, my hobbies, my social circle...
I look at guys around me that are in happy relationships and I compare myself to these guys and I just can't pick out what makes them different than me or better than me apart from their appearances.
I do all of these great things and volunteer and help people out through the kindness of my heart and it just means nothing.
Meanwhile, there are guys chasing after and begging guys who are serial cheaters and abusers to date them...
If I was even average-looking, I'm sure that I would have more options that I would be able to handle, but I lost the genetic lottery .

I've perfected my hygiene, my physique, my social skills, my hobbies, my social circle... All this doesn't get girls..
All this doesn't get girls..
You're right. Immutable genetic traits get girls.

it's so funny to me that this is even a contentious issue (yet you're right and I see people claiming 'girls don't care about looks and aren't attracted visually' all the time on this sub lol)
It's just a narrative that is very important to people marketing PUA advice as without people believing this narrative, the community (and their bank balances) are in trouble!!
Anyone with sisters or good looking friends knows exactly how much girls are attracted by 'looks' and how 'visual' they actually are lol (hint: they're the same as us)
Almost all topics on this sub could be boiled down too - get as good looking (attractive) as possible, and approach girls! Direct. Indirect. It doesn't matter. There's no rules. There's no 'skill' (unless you consider not being super weird a skill. E.g a girl who isn't attracted isn't gonna suddenly wanna bang you because you used some negs or dhv stories or pushpull lines etc lmao). It's a numbers game. Find out if she thinks you're hot. If she does, escalate. If she's not interested, there's nothing you can say to 'change her mind' (that would be like trying to change someones mind when they tell you that they are hungry lol) so move on

Looks definitely matters and play an important role and agree with most of your comment. Saying looks don't matter is being delusional.
However, I don't agree when you say women are the same as men. It's not easy to explain but women's attraction for a man is way more complex.
For example, if a man is average looking however he is energetic, confident and has a devil may care attitude he will trigger attraction mechanisms on most women. Hint: You can't fake confidence, women have a sixth sense for it.
Another example, watch average looking guys who are of high status and are accompanied by hot women. Other women will lust and jump for him.
Unfourtanetly if a man is tremendous ugly or very short it's almost game over for him. Unless he can compensate with a very high status position, like celebrity status. Still, very few men are that ugly and short, most men have simple bad self-esteem. If they work in their appearence they would look better.
On the other hand, men just love hot and beautiful women. Better if they are feminine and faithful for a LTR or slutty for a short term encounters.
[–]terrorvision101 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree 100%. The 'appearance' of confidence, or of being someone with influence is much more important for men than women. We're simple apes, hot girls are hot whether they're a checkout girl or a princess. But an attractive guy in a shitty situation will get less than an average guy who's balling!
We used to call it POP - position of power - not actual power like a politician, but a status. We brag about hooking up with a 9, they brag about a bar tender, DJ or tour guide (I know this last one is true, it handed me a lot of success and partially killed my game!)

Who says it doesn’t? Might as well do everything you can to look as attractive as possible to your desired audience
[–]Risk__Creepy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hygiene and style are more important than physique.
[–]TheSunshineMan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agree.
And game is more important than all of this combined.

Water is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.
[–]AelfredRex 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Over-groom and they'll question your sexuality. As long as you don't stink, your breath doesn't make them cringe, and you don't have a brush sticking out your nose or ears, you'll be fine.
Who cares if they do? Girls can still be attracted to gay guys. And if they think you are hot and gay, all you have to do is correct them.
Try a few aesthetics. I have a cowboy aesthetic going right now and it kinda works
[–]AnnoKano 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Appearance matters, but wallowing in self pity or anxiety over your appearance is also terrible.
Perhaps a golden mean between acceptance of ones appearance and regular showers exists.
Appearance is really all that matters in my experience.
2200+ approaches and not even a single number.
This is with perfect hygiene, wearing nice cologne, 4+ years in the gym, A+ social skills, and tons of accolades and interesting things to talk about.
Nothing. Zip. Nada.
If you can't even get your foot in the door, personality will never make a difference.
