This is when I tend to throw any techniques out of the window.

You can do whatever you want in a conversation. But when it comes down to a date, you most better be genuinely interested. No acting. How would you feel if an hb10 took you on a date and was just focused on appearing distracted? I don't know about you, but I'd be like "Why the fuck am i on this date?"

Something to think about: What kind of demeanor do you have right now by yourself?

My theory is to be interested in whatever she is saying, rather than HER as a person. It's bad news to look uninterested in her words, but also bad news to look like you are amazed to just be talking to a girl.

Depends on the type of girl. In simple terms, the more confident (put on a pedestal in the past) she is in herself, the more she will feel the need to to keep your attention, and will be "unexplainably" attracted to you when you ignore her/ shut her out. This is usually my approach with girls who just give off the "hot girl and I know it" vibe, since its a real curveball to them.

Not to say all hot girls are like this though. The more sincere the girl is, the more likely being sincere back will work in your favor.

Honestly though, the key is what /u/Pit_Sweat said. Act as you feel; if she doesn't like it, then she's not the girl for you and not worth your time.

you want to be interested, but not too interest. Talk less than they do, so that every word you say is worth more. Have a strong body language. Tease them a lot. And I usually think its best to do sort of a push pull technique. Appear really interested, than when she starts getting boring or time passes, cross your arms and take a step back.

Depends on you and what you like to work, honestly.

I like chasing. That's where I'm at home, that's where I have the most fun. I'm a bit of an aggressive person by nature and I like it when a girl responds well to the chase. I express interest because I want her to respond specifically to that, and if she doesn't that's when I lose interest myself.

Obviously, I look for her engaging and pursuing a bit as well, but if there's no pursuit on my side it's flat out because I'm not interested and there won't be a second date.

Rather than trying to find the best way to approach, figure out what you like and how you want the interactions to go and look for girls who respond well to the way you want to approach her. If you're not fucking it up, you'll basically exclude the girls you're less interested in by default and while you will probably get laid less in the short run you'll end up around girls you like a hell of alot more in the long run.

Again, which is how I work. I like relationships myself, I like girls who want to stick around, and I approach women in such a way that the girls I am going to like respond well, and the girls I'm not compatible with aren't interested, so that no one spends time and money on dates with someone they're really not that into.
