Well I mean, I certainly would not say that it's impossible. In fact recently, when receiving a smile from random girls in public, I've been more likely to squeak out a "hi" which is better than my usual nod of the head.

First off, i like that you finally start to get more positive and slowly get out of your head. This is a very good start! Second off, Keep doing that! Push your comfort zone every day as far as you can! There will be a day when you realize it has become your second nature to do it.

I've never tried to get into a conversation or anything though, as this mostly happens when I'm at a park and we're both walking in opposite ways.

Step by step. No need to rush it. If you feel adventurous, then try it, but manage your expectations. The first time it will not be the best success and you will probably feel uncomfortable as fuck. The comfortability comes with time and practice though.

I would have far more trouble initiating a greeting, though. Especially with girls who look disinterested or preoccupied.

Try with any people, not just girls. Bring yourself into a good mood and then simply let a "Hi" slip out when passing anybody. You will feel uncomfortable, but the more you do it, the less uncomfortable it gets, like i said already.

Anyways, keep moving, and don't let the negative thoughts overwhelm you. Fight them!

You need to stop thinking about what girls find creepy. You have to think in terms of objective behavior. Objectively, there is nothing wrong with saying "hey" to a stranger, or even approaching somebody and introducing yourself. If somebody thinks that's creepy, that's THEIR problem, not yours.

Take that principle further. Anything you do, you have to do it because YOU think its right, not because somebody told you its right. You can't women dictate your behavior. There are a lot of shitty and crazy people in the world that will make you feel like you did something wrong for approaching them or being nice to them or whatever. You can't let THEIR standards influence YOUR behavior. YOUR behavior must be determined by your own objective standards.

Under objective standards, there is nothing wrong with making eye contact with people, smiling at them, waving, or approaching and introducing yourself.

Of course, if somebody makes it clear that they don't want to talk to you, then leave them alone. Again, that's an objective standard and just because YOU think its ok doesn't mean it really is an ok thing to do.

Man, the hardest thing I ever did was get over this idea of "creepy." Girls will say it about ANYTHING, even when they don't really think it, just because girls like to talk shit. It's a social construct. Ignore it.

"Creepy" is stalking a girl without expressing interest. "Creepy" is not letting up when a girl has clearly given you hints that she's not interested (short answers, "no thanks" when asked for her number, walking around with her when she's unresponsive). "Creepy" is buying a girl a bunch of gifts and food and being a "gentleman" with the expectation that she's going to suck your dick afterward, then being butthurt and talking about how "girls only like assholes!" when she doesn't.

Saying "hey" and "aye I really like that hat" are not creepy. They are greetings. You have to get out of your head, man.
