This is one of the best eye-contact tricks. It's my favourite. I'm in London, and people are basically trying to avoid eye-contact like it pays well, but this works:

think of the dirtiest, filthiest thing you'd like to do to the person you're looking at

It shows on your face, and makes women curious enough to let eye contact happen.

I have the same problem. I've gotten eye contact maybe a total of 5 times in the last couple of years. I don't walk around slouched over and looking at the ground either. I'm not ugly (average at least) so my conclusion is it's my height, or lack of. I'm only 5'8 and most women seem to be around my height or tower over me. Even jailbaits make me feel small. Or maybe I'm just ugly idunnolol

I have always had the exact opposite problem, people were always staring at me, I always found it intimidating, imagined what's so strange about me. Now being 6'4" I have more courage and try to keep the eye contact, although I can't when the girl is extremely pretty...

I've noticed lots of people avoid eye contact. There's so many people who never get any that they don't even try anymore. Make an effort to look these people in the eye if only to say "thanks."

Cashiers, bartenders, shop people etc. Those are the best ones to start on. Eventually you'll start noticing people doing it to you more.

I've found this to be true, also. You'll get a few rare gems that will lock gazes with you, but mostly instead of their eyes saying "Hi" they say "Oh fuck! He saw us, ABORT!".

if you are not catching any eyes, you must not be 'eye catching' enough. wear something different (shameless MFA plug) get an exciting hair cut, walk with some pzazz, make people want to make eye contact with you. Although the problem probably isnt you, people are antisocial.

IMPOSSIBLE! Where do you live? could be a cultural thing? are you intimidating? Do you have a lazy eye?

I think the key is not to stare but rather kind of meaningful glances of 2-3 seconds at the eyes. While you might not always get eye contact with strangers you pass on the street, surely when you're making an approach you're getting eye contact, that's where you want it.

It's differs by city and region. New York is harder than Atlanta, for example.

One thing I focus on is holding it while doing things like buying coffee. It's interesting to see if the barista holds it with me. Sometimes they do, sometimes not.

I do get some when I initiate it, I try not to be a "awkward penguin" and initiate eye contact. usually when I get it back, I smile and I've gotten smiles back, or even a hi. but I only really do this when its just me and the other person (girl of course...) I don't make eye contact with strange men... =s

I make eye contact with everyone and I hold it with everyone. Sometimes I get off put because someone might hold it really well, but challenges like that are good.

I live in Alabama (yeah, I know, but keep reading anyway), and I would say that maybe one person in ten will make eye contact. About 95% of those that do are girls. But, I'm at a university, so nearly everyone is in my age group, so that could be it. I'm also not bad looking. Not good looking, just not bad.

Also remember that women have larger peripheral vision then men. So they don't need to look at you in order to check you out. Women can be checking you out without you even knowing.

Nope. Its like that everywhere!!! People are just not as confident as us.

Think about it you had to read about holding eye contact to actually try. They haven't read about it. But it doesn't matter don't stop. Your still confident. Plus when people do look you come off as a confident person because you are. When they do look back smile. I sometimes feel awkward smiling back to other men. So a simple nod can do depending on the person. I wouldn't smile while holding eye contact with a biker....

That's just weird lol
