I find many PUA principles are applicable to even friendly social interactions so here's my take on common problems guys and girls have on projecting value.

Talking too much about yourself, who you know, where you've been, etc.: You are trying too hard to prove your worthiness, it's a sign of insecurity and a turnoff. Talk about yourself when it naturally comes up in conversation or to answer a direct question.

Do not try hard to impress anyone: Liking someone is mostly a subconscious chemical process. People only keep tabs on your on paper pluses and minuses after the fact to rationalize their like or dislike of you. People form an opinion about you from how you are act IN THE MOMENT, your accomplishments, job, etc. don't mean much if they haven't made you a great person to hang out with today.

Do not have too many ready-to-go stories: Do not randomly plug a couple stories that make you look good. Chances are, you've used them before so your lines sound too rehearsed. Even worse, a lot of people can't keep track of which stories they've used so once they lay out the details again with almost the same words, it feels all they got is a limited bag of tricks. Learn to improvise and riff on your life in response to environmental cues. Or better yet, take the topic to the world at large.

Social proof: You look outgoing if you can chat up anyone in the room but do not neglect who you came with. Use your skills to give them a good time. Introduce them in conversations, introduce them to new people. If your companion is a fish out of the water and you leave them out to dry to prove how social you are, you do nothing to reinforce it is fun to be AROUND YOU. Nobody has fun just from watching you enjoy yourself.

Let me know what your takes on these points on and how to improve.
