I'm a hockey player, and it never occurred to me that going ice skating would be a great venue for a first date. So I texted a new friend this:

Me: Hey! I'm going to the ice rink tomorrow night to sharpen my skates. I'm going to break them in at public skate. You should join me.

She replied with: "Yes! That sounds like a lot of fun!"

So, I got to the ice rink a little early, sharpened my skates, and laced up. I read on here that ice skating dates are great for kino and DHV if you're good at it. So I went in with this mindset. When she got there, I gave the front counter guy a thumbs up to let her in. I knew him from playing hockey, and she was impressed. I gave her a hug, and she got herself skates and a locker for her purse.

She told me she's only gone ice skating a few times in her life, and that she wasn't very good. I smiled and I told her I've been skating since I was a kid, and that she's in good hands. We step onto the ice and I held my hand out for her to grab if she needed it, which she did. So, I spent a few minutes holding her hands and skating backwards pulling her to get her moving forward. We passed by a young couple and both the guy and girl were struggling. As we passed we heard the girl tell the guy "see! that's how you're supposed to help me." I taught her how to move forward with her feet, but she was still shaky so I held her hands a bit more. I waited until she was comfortable and then said, "I still need to break these in, I'll be right back."

I don't usually need to break skates in after sharpening, but I used this as an excuse to do a couple of quick laps around the ice, which was suggested on here on another post to DHV. I went back to her to see how she was doing and she said her skates felt loose. We went to the bench and I put her legs up on my lap and tied her skates tighter for her. When we got back on the ice, instead of having her hold my hand just for balance, I micro escalated and interlocked my fingers with hers.

We skated around some more and I went back to the position where I held her two hands while I skated backwards and pulled her forward. A song came on that was pretty catchy, so I picked up the speed and started to dance. An older couple skated by and said "yeah you two! you guys are cute together." This got me excited so I picked up the speed, she started to look nervous, so I came to a stop and her momentum brought us close enough for a hip on hip hug.

They announced over the speaker that the session was ending soon, and she suggested grabbing some food and drinks someplace, which was a great sign as it showed she wasn't ready for the night to be over quite yet. As she was taking off her skates she mentioned she was sore from Pilates so I started to massage her.

I suggested to take my car to dinner, since we drove separately to the rink. When we got to dinner, I picked a spot at the bar top instead of a table so that I could keep the kino going. My focus at this point was on K-Closing. I didn't want to wait until the end of the date to go for it. A huge problem for me in the past was waiting for the "perfect moment" when going in for the kiss, not finding it, and then being so in my head that it never happens. So, I just waited for the slightest lull in the conversation and went for it.

The rest of the evening really well after that. When I dropped her back off at her car, we made out for a bit as I held her hip to hip, leaning on her car. At the peak of it though, I told her I had to go, and that I would see her the next day. She definitely had the "doe/anime" anime eyes Julian described in a video posted here a few days ago.

I liked this girl a lot, and I'm pretty sure I have seddit to thank for how well the evening went. I implemented as much as I could from here, DHV, Kino, Escalation and logistics.

tl;dr Ice skating is a great first date location, especially if you're good at it, and she isn't.
