So last night I was talking to this lovely girl for quite a bit. It came time to go and a went for the number close, telling her about a friend's party. She declined but asked for my number, which I of course turned down. At this point she asked:

"Have you ever read the book The Game?"

I was a bit taken aback by the call out so I paused a bit on it:

Me: The Game? The one by Neil Strauss?"

Her: Yeah.

Me: Yeah, great book. You read it?

Her: Yup.

Me: Do you think that stuff works?

And I just kept going, though it eventually devolved into a debate about the PUA community. At one point she said that it seemed "not geniune". I asked her what she suggested. Her response:

"Say hello, buy a girl a drink, and you'll meet people."

I smiled, and nudged her in the arm, "But you KNOW you're not supposed to do that!" But she was serious and so of course I was frustrated. She was not only a woman, but a beautiful one - of course she couldn't understand. She was the rich guy who inherited a stack of money and wonders why poor people can't just get a job. But try explaining that to her.

Three questions:

  1. Does anyone have similar experiences of being "called out"

  2. Once it's happened, do you think a positive outcome can be realistically obtained?

  3. Would you become more or less interested in the girl because of it?
