I've liked one of my friends for a long time. We've dated other people, but we're both single now. I asked her out and she said she'd rather be friends. That's fine.

We carried on chatting as friends but I noticed her getting more flirty. She said she appreciated how I handled the conversation and she started to see me in a different light but she still had some concerns about some bits (there's a bit of a distance between us and for various reasons, her family would have reservations).

Over time, she got more and more flirty and we eventually arranged a night out. It went brilliantly, and I really started to like her more. However, the day after, she literally disappeared and then said she had a family death so needed time. I think she just got scared.

We start chatting again a while later, still flirty, we're getting closer, sharing secrets etc, and arrange another evening out. This time, she actually stands me up and claims another family member died.

So, that's me done. I can't be with someone who's so flaky and disrespectful and scared or probably just not even interested.

But here's the problem. Apart from that, she's incredible. Looks, personality, interests, makes me laugh, wants to do the same things as me etc etc. Literally my perfect girl and I can totally imagine us together.

I know it's not happening.

I'm currently doing no contact.

I can arrange dates with other women easily enough. A few are chasing me. And I know the best medicine is to forget her and go out with others. But everyone else seems inferior to her. I keep wishing she was here instead. Even when I'm kissing or sleeping with other people recently, I can feel I'm not totally into it. There's like a sadness inside me. I keep seeing her everywhere and going places I know she'd love and wishing I could tell her.

Is there any advice on here on a good way to just get over someone?
