I would say the humble response is the way to go, just like you did.

I usually will just say, "Thank you I appreciate it." or, "Thank you, I am trying."

I think another good way to respond to this, is to also return a compliment to them and turn the conversation back to them, to avoid a "dry" response." Thank you, I appreciate it. I saw this picture where you were out in the wilderness, and I liked this picture. Where were you at in this picture?"

It keeps the conversation moving, because I know it can be awkward to think of something to say after you get a compliment lol.

Embrace the compliment. Remember how you felt in the moment, store it in your memory for later. These type of moments help build your confidence later.

Don’t down play the compliment or try to be humble. Sincerely thank them and genuinely let them know it means a lot. The Charisma Myth talks about this. When you downplay someone’s compliment it can make them feel foolish and they can associate you with making them feel that way

I would thank the compliment and see it as her being open to a conversation. I'd keep talking to her and, eventually, ask her out.

"thanks, I try" with a smirk/smile is my go to for most compliments. A silly smile and shrug goes a long way too

Flip it into either a flirt, tease, or ignore. Always one of those three (unless it's a deeply serious convo). If it's not clear ask questions. In this case "what makes it so cool?" and a response of "you do X and Y in these pictures, the design, etc" to which you can either continue with, "you like X?" If yes then invite to do it together at some point, else find out why not and hear that story (if you want to). Idk there's a lot of ways this can be developed is all im saying. An interesting approach I like is also to flip it into a question "well it takes one to know one, but your profile aside, what are some things that you think are great about yourself?" Etc.

So your face, voice tone, and body language def do not go all mushy like you’re coming unglued to be appreciated out loud by a girl.

Instead, you respond in a peaceful, relaxed vibe and energy. Maybe give a James Bond smirk… and I’d prolly say something like -

Thanks for noticin’. And did you slide into the DM’s while you were there? 😏

She’ll laugh and be like, “Haha No.”

Then I go, “Pity. 😏”

If you think she's cute then tell her thanks and go straight into complimenting her looks and initiating your interest in dating her, if she declines then move on.

If you don't think she's attractive then say thanks and walk away.

Just say "Thanks", that's it. Nothing else, also, don't try to be humble, and don't give a compliment back if it isn't neccesary.

When I was in high school I was in a relationship basically the whole time so I had a bad habit of either ignoring them or saying oh yea I know lmao (I only get one or 2 specific compliments)- it was mindlessness but after I got out of that relationship I kinda just thank them and then try to compliment them back

It's kind of a weird compliment tbh considering it's just one picture. But just say thanks, like you did. I think women tend to like sparse social medias because it tends to leave things to the imagination and creates more mystery.
