You don't need permission to look at someone and they don't need permission to look at you. This means that it's entirely up to you to decide when you'll look away. Start paying attention to what makes you look away from someone first. Look at men, look at women, look at children. Look at everyone's eyes and start paying attention. You'll find that it's easier to look into some people's eyes and impossible to look at others. You just make it a game to "discover which people are which".

Onwards to smiling! Whenever I walk from point A to point B, I concentrate on relaxing my jaw so that my teeth aren't together. This way I can feel the muscles moving around my eyes and know that they're relaxed, too. This is "primed to smile".

If I were walking around with clenched jaws and tight eyes, I'm primed for confrontation. Like the world could hurt me at any second.

I'm relaxed, I'm confident, I'm primed to smile. Now....moving on to what I'm thinking about while moving from A to B. I'm soaking in the world, I'm paying attention to everything, that way when something comes up worth paying attention, then I'm aware! Maybe a pretty girl smiled? Maybe she dodged a bee right as she looked into my eyes, breaking our second together?

Welp! Since I'm paying attention, then I know it's time to smile and point out how silly life is! I've been waiting to smile this whole time. I've been counting the second until I get the chance to smile! I'm so ridiculous...but that's just me. Yep, I'm an idiot that's just waiting to smile. Oh, hello, gorgeous! Boom, she smiles back. That's loving life.

Get yourself into a mood to smile and relax. Look for shit to smile about. Be happy, be fun, be inquisitive, be passionate, because people love it and then you'll always feel like you have permission to look into their eyes.

P.s. My eye contact is like trying to stare into the sun, or so I'm told.

This used to happen to me and what I tried is practicing first with ppl I know well(family to finally female friends) then with girls that are not attractive at all, then normal girls and finally hot girls. You can also tell ppl or friends to make eye contact battles for fun. Also stretch your mouth to make sure your face is relaxed and the eye contact is too, this video I think it could also help:

The thing is trying to have a variety of good experiences of eye contact with other people, so you can deal with your ego telling you are bad at eye contact once and for all. Even if it's looking each other face to face, sitted on a chair as awkward as it may be, but normally try to practice in normal convo.

Now with eye contact you’re not trying to stare at them. You’re not tryna creep them out. Quick glance and a smile should be enough.

I was able to overcome this problem by looking into the eyes of every person who passed by me whenever I was walking. Since the duration for which you will be looking at them (and they will be looking at you) is quite small, it won't make things awkward at all.

But I still don't know what to do when someone catches me looking at them. I usually look away almost immediately but I don't know how to get rid of this habit. I'd love to get some advice!

Not a master myself, but I found it very akward one year ago and now it's something I do automatically. My way to make that switch, was by training:

=> every day when biking to my university, I just looked whoever came in the opposite direction in the eyes. Men or woman, young or old, I'd look at them.

It's a perfect way to get used to it IMO, as you just have to "hold on" a few seconds till they pass you by :) Now it's something I naturally do, and love doing

This is a 100% effective way to learn this. This affects many people, and most never correct it. People will literally think less of you (at the very least subconviously) when you look away while talking to them. Think about it. All day you have people thinking in their head "what a creepy guy, he keeps looking away from me when talking". You have to change your frame, because people DO think you're a creep when you look away. Its not weird to look people in the eyes, you need to retrain yourself. It's not easy...

You need to literally practice.

First, start by staring yourself in the mirror for a full 2 minutes. 120 seconds. Do that right now. Repeat it until you can do the full 2 minutes without looking away once.

Second, find a good friend, and tell them you want to practice eye contact. It might seem silly, but tell him it's for business or whatever. This is something people do in sales exercises (along with pickup exercises). Once you get over the silliness, take it seriously. With you friend, maintain eye contact for 60 seconds straight. Seriously. I bet you can't. You have to be able to do that full 60 seconds before you can move on.

Then, when you go out and approach, use this as your new challenge. Every girl you meet say: "Hi, I think you're cute, what's your name", and maintain EYE CONTACT THE WHOLE TIME.

I bet you can't.

You can look at someone’s nose, they won’t be able to tell. When I’m maintaining eye contact I’m looking at thier eyes rather than into their eyes.

I never look away from eye contact first. I’m always looking in a girls eyes. You get good at after awhile. It depends on what kind of energy your putting out there. If you feel creepy when doing it the chances are you will come across as creepy. You won’t get a hot GF without expressing your desire for here by being a pussy. I did this with a girl and I now I have a date with her next week. You always gotta hold it tell she looks away. This is masculinity.
