This whole concept of oneitis has got to be one of the more regrettable concepts in a genre that is relatively full of them. Like you, pick up helped me put my life together. But I've maintained that really, pick up helped me more with my life and business, and had more applications in those worlds, than it did in my love life.

And part of the reason for that is because if I would have "really" followed what was going on, I would've rejected people based on this oneitis idea, but I didn't and I'm better for it.

Fuck it man, you're fucking 52 and a 23 year old burnt you. That shit hurts and I bet you really enjoyed that young piece anyway. WHO CARES!? It will hurt and she will come back or she won't. What you need to remember is that what oneitis is really doing is trying to protect you from thinking that one person can make or break you.

One person can make or break you, but that one person is you.

It happens man. You're not bulletproof. Bonding happens. It's why it feels so good when things click. But your knowledge and life experience will allow you to bounce back faster and further. Just find another hottie to bang. Always does the trick.

I'm not as old as you but... As an older guy getting into this, this is exactly what I'm afraid might happen to me.

I find that generally, when it clicks with younger girls, there is something about her that inspires the fantasy of "starting over". What if I had done things differently? What if things turned out this way and not that way? It's really something about her that reminds you of yourself. Maybe think about that.

It's ok to have emotions and be upset. Humans, as much as we might want, are not beings of perfect rationality. Let the feelings come, let them wash over you, recognise them for what they are and let them go. Sometimes it just takes time

I know the struggle well.

I'm 27 (but feel weirdly old at times) and started working on myself earlier in the year as my lack of success was driving me to depression and still does at times.

I made slow but sure progress. Best shape of my life, more female attention and compliments than ever before. Then - at the end of January - it happened.

I only actually met her the once. It was at my mate's birthday - she was actually his 21 year old sister. It was a great night and I pulled her almost by accident - didn't know she was interested until she started grinding on me. Long story (which you can read in other posts) short - I spent a long and exhausting night/morning with her.

We spoke for about two weeks after. I offered to go see her where she went to university and she said it was too far. She still reaches out very occasionally and keeps a seemingly close eye on my Snapchat stories.

I've had dates since, got numbers and made out with girls since (no f-closes I'm ashamed to say). So why do I still think about her almost 7 months on?!?

Maybe it's because it was the first time I ever felt attractive, like I could build game. Maybe it's because she seemed out of my league (Still does at times). Maybe it's because of all the reasons it wouldn't work (distance, her being a mate's sister) conversely making me want her more.

Now, I think it's because she represents what I'm actually capable of but also what I'm scared I won't be able to do again. A fear that I've lost some last opportunity to be happy.

It's hard but I'm trying now to get back on the horse and over her.

I think, having both come into the game late, our obsession comes from what these girls represent - what we can achieve but what we are scared that we cannot repeat.

Reading stories like yours (I've seen your earlier posts) is encouraging to me - makes me feel that I can do it again. That getting older is no barrier.

Keep going mate - I hope I can still get girls in their 20s when I'm 52. Pretty sure you won't have any problems!
