Job titles are a shit test. I always liked these two response. I always like to respond with something irrelevant like "I sell futures on the moon". Bonus points if it's a good conversation starter.

Joking about your job is kind of inauthentic and approval seeking, in my opinion, unless you're already flirting with her hard core and/or she likes you a lot.

I've done all sorts of witty comeback lines in field, and it's gotten me nowhere.

Here are two dating tips for men.

Dating tip for men #1.) Often the "what do you do question" is an indication that the conversation is going nowhere-- definitely not in a sexual direction. End the conversation and chat with another girl with more potential.

Dating tip for men# 2.) Say what you do, and talk about why you're so passionate about it. If you're not passionate about it, change the subject and talk about something you are passionate about.
