It's a good book, but he doesn't put enough emphasis on creating anticipation and being mysterious.....

Here's the thing about being "mysterious."

Does it work? Sure. It can broaden your appeal. But that comes at a price. When you are being mysterious, you're hiding part of who you are, which allows the girl to project her fantasy on you, which is not being ruined because you're hiding yourself.

The downside is that you don't get to be who you are in that exchange. The moment you do, a vital part of the attraction is shattered because it was based on her fantasy of you, which can't stand when you're contradicting it by being yourself.

So while the mysterious thing is great for flings/casual things, it's terrible for relationship seekers and if overused for casual sex, can easily lead to self-loathing and general hatred of women.

If we're talking about a guy desperately opening up and trying to force emotional intimacy, then sure, don't do that.

But being mysterious or not, isn't about boring or not. Both work, just differently.

Mysterious works if you want to screen for short term things.

Not mysterious is great if you want to be yourself but have fewer casual encounters to draw from, and/or if you want a relationship.

I don't think it has to go that far. It's simply a matter of not letting her know exactly how you feel when you first begin courtship. It's much more effective to show interest genuinely, then back off a little bit and see if she chases. Women want to chase. It's never a matter of lying, lying is wrong. And it's not a matter of stonewalling either, it's just a matter of making her want to find out more about you, and feeding it to her slowly. Avoiding texting for the first couple weeks and leaving things only to encounters is generally very effective for example. You have to give her something to chase and desire, especially in the early stages. Funnily enough, you have to be a guy from a romance novel, which is exactly what gets women off. Express interest and back off, then when she chases you give her what she wants.

Sounds good. So, in my experience, doing something for the girl to “see the value in you” and then cone fuck you is absolutely not reliable and puts too much choosing power for the girl.....

I'll jump in here.

First of all, one isn't "doing" this vulnerability thing as a tactic to try to get the girl to do anything. It's more about owning your own shit and not having to dress your thoughts and desires up. It's more about DGAF.

Because you're vulnerable when you expose exactly who and what you are and what you feel.

Secondly, the idea of the girl's power of choosing.... While I get that you're wanting to make a hard push for escalation and maybe that feelsike you're leaving the girl with "no choice," the girl still has choice and any girl who's having sex with a guy (except in the case of rape, of course) is playing along because they want it. And contributing to make it happen.

If the girl is down, it doesn't matter if she ends up with "power to choose." That just gives her the opportunity to show that she wants what is happening. Which is good.
